Ok I'm tryin to add numbers together but just add the total of negative and then the total of positive numbers.
Now after this I'm tryin to just add the negative and then the positive but I am not sure. I will have the negative variable as neg and the positive variable as pos. I am not sure how to make it only read the neg/pos numbers. I know that greater or lesser but just don't know how to set it up.Code:value = -2.3;

I know everytime thru the loop add the next value to the accumulator variable, switching to the other accumulator variable after you cross 0, but not sure how to write this?
could someone help me?
This would seem to be what if-statements were born to do (if positive do this otherwise do that).

You need to break it down into logical chunks of what needs to happen then put those chunks together using if statements.
hint:
you've assigned value as -2.3 so that will need to be looped until it hits 0 then you need to do the other loop to it.
Refer to your source on using if statements. Your best bet is to write as much as you can and then post it, you'll get more help that way :)

The cout will happen if the statement in parentheses is true, i.e., if 0 < value. I leave it to you to determine (a) if 0 < value, whether value is positive or negative and then (b) how to use = and + in some order to make the addition happen.Quote:

If you can add to value (as evidenced by the line "value = value + .4") why can't you add to pos and neg?

Do you think that code would do what you want it to? Try putting the program together and run it. It's better to learn through trying. Don't be afraid of getting errors and weird outcomes, if you don't make the mistakes you won't learn how to fix and avoid them.
yea but I don't actually have those numbers and I don't know how to get the positive and then get the total of them

I have been, although that presumes you've been reading. You need to create numbers to hold the positive and negative totals. (You created value, right?) You need to add the value to the appropriate total, using the if-statement to help you figure out which.Quote:

You said you wanted separate positive and negative totals. So create them. And then, use them.
Every statement needs a semicolon (especially "total = value").
You can't print your totals until your loop is finished. So don't try to print your totals until after your loop.
