Mhmm, well, as great an idea as revamping the faq on the web site might be I have trouble getting kermi's or Alex's input on anything, personally.

I think that's one of the reasons cpwiki was created?
Yeah, pretty much. We were pushing for a wiki FAQ on CBoard, and there was a long thread about it, and I even PM'd the webmaster and kermi3 . . . but none of them said anything at all. That and some hot-headed person went and created it immediately. ;)

Yeah, sorry. My online time is very intermittant, since I have dial-up at home that I rarely use. I generally wait until I have access to a high speed connection, which happens once or twice a week, and then get as much CBoard time as possible. :)
I wouldn't make a very good moderator, time-wise. I could try, sure, but I don't think it would work very well.

I don't want to offer it on his behalf, that right is not mine... but if he reads this thread or if I PM him perhaps he might give in
Very funny! :D
To tell you the truth, I was pretty sure cpwiki was dead by now. I don't think I've checked it in a few weeks at least.
But it would be fun to have a fast cpwiki. I must admit that my server isn't the best (it's in Germany), but it would certainly be faster than SourceForge. The other problem with my server is that it gets a lot of spam. Seriously, there would be new spam messages every two days if cpwiki was hosted there.
So I'd be willing to offer my webspace (all -- what? -- four gigs of it?), but it's probably not the best option.
Nevertheless, unless someone else (laserlight?) comes up with some hosting, I think we should try it.

As for porting the new articles, it would probably be best if it was done by hand (since the HUGE version jump in the wiki software may not even be possible). I've got no problem in doing that...
By "by hand" do you mean copy-paste? We'd lose the history that way, but I don't think that would matter too much.
Believe it or not, I actually installed mediawiki on my site (the then-latest version). I think I posted something about it . . . and then I just forgot, or let it go, or whatever.
BTW, for anyone who missed it -- there was a discussion about this (more or less) here. http://cboard.cprogramming.com/showthread.php?t=98863
