Create window without taskbar icon?

Is there another way to create a window that does not appear on the taskbar (aside from using the WS_TOOLWINDOW style)?

I don't think so, but if you're having trouble getting WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW to work, this is from an MSDN article -

I assume you could just replace dialog with window and get the same result.

Use a resource dialog as the main / first screen and then hide it.

Create the window off the dlg and no icon.
