StarShip Troopers AHHHH i HATE that movie!
You are right... In fact I hate the star wars movies, they are so unreal, and I think for a movie to be good it should be realistic, to make you believe that it can really happen...Quote:

I love Starship troopers
There are a lot of movies I hate, cant remember all their names. I watched this movie 'Tank Girl' the other day, the movie sucked, but I somehow had fun watching it!! So, my vote is 'Tank Girl'.
A cheap movie called "campfire stories". It's one of those movies where its supposed to be serious and scary, but it ends up just being funny as hell cause it's so lame. But, it's definetly not worth the money to rent.
[edit]
"glass house" was really lame too
[/edit]
Any chick flick
Buried Alive. We rented it because it had a warning label on the front of it - "One of the goriest movies ever". Shoulda said "Warning: 5 lines of dialogue in this movie". That movie was f'ed up beyond all reason.
My other choice would be "Dude, where's my car"
I don't care if a movie's realistic or whatever (otherwise I wouldn't like Swordfish) - if it's not a documentary, as long as it's entertaining, I don't care.
y tu mama tambien...
hands down, worst ever.
Embrace Of The Vampire was pretty bad, only worth watching for the one scene where Alyssa Milano is topless.
Il Decameron by Pier Paolo Pasolini
This is actually nine different stories, all of them from Giovanni Boccaccio's 14th-century novel.
It takes a lot of effort to watch this movie, turn the volume down, or all shouting Italians will get on your nerves.
The actors has certainly given the word 'overplay' a whole new meaning to me. I've never seen its like.
Many recent american war movies* has scared me a lot, too. Are the americans really buying propaganda like that?
*) Such as Black Hawk Down, etc.
battlefield earth
what was john travolta thinking...
> Such as Black Hawk Down, etc.
That was a damn good movie.
> battlefield earth
That wasn't... I seem to remember hearing that might be made into a cartoon... That makes me want to curl into the fetal position and start crying.
Either of the more recent star wars movies. George Lucas should be shot.
youve got mail bored me out of my mind. we watched it at school and soon everyone was begging for mercy. it was just so boring.
About 90% of the movies made are so unrealistic that it's not even funny.Quote:

Star Wars is great.
Dude Where's My Car was a funny as crap movie if you like the stupid humor stuff (which I do :) )
My vote for worst movie would be a movie called 'Bats'. I lost a few IQ points after watching about half of it.
With the frequency that thee wife can watch the following, I'd have to say:
Homicidal: Dirty Dancing, Hairspray
Suicidal: The sound of Music
Recent movies I've seen that I hated the hell out of:
Battlefield Earth
From Hell
Gosford Park
Jason X
And PS, i loved Starship Troopers as well! As long as you go in knowing that it will be cheesy and completely different from the book I think its a fun movie.
>>Such as Black Hawk Down, etc.<<
With you on the American movie's distorted view of war, but I thought that Black Hawk Down was one of the better representations and thoroughly enjoyed it. Behind Enemy Lines however, what a pile of garbage, especially the ending!!
Hated movies:
Bad Boys (With a Passion!!! Two guys bicker all through a film, drove me nuts!!)
What Women Want (Getting in touch with his feminine side...please!!)
Black ?something? (Vin Diesel rubbish that I turned off after 1/2 hour)
Mad Max films
Titanic
Reign of Fire
Spiderman
Films I thought I would hate and then really enjoyed:
Ten things I hate about you
Captain Correli's Mandolin
Meet Joe Black
Billy Elliot
You're right, I forgot about Reign of Fire which I watched last week, what a piece of crap that was!
And you didn't like Pitch Black?? I loved that movie! Favorite SciFi/Horror movie behind Aliens!
> Behind Enemy Lines however, what a pile of garbage, especially the ending!!
I still don't get how that's a war movie. It's an action movie with a war backdrop. The Sound of Music happens during a war - does that make it a war movie, too?
interesting. I work 8:30-5:30 5 days a week, commuting takes an hour or so of my day away from me. I think that's enough real world for me. If I want reality I can walk outside. A movie is an escape from reality.Quote:

I second "the glass house". No story, no shock, no suspense, terrible.
> I second "the glass house". No story, no shock, no suspense, terrible.
But it's got Leelee Sobieski!
Black Hawk Down glorifies the American soldiers, while the Somalis is pictured as war-loving, incompetent and stupid people, living in herds countering bullets by throwing rocks.Quote:

Black Hawk Down is not abysmally bad as a movie (2/5) but what really scares me is people (including Scott himself) saying that BHD is very realistic, or even documentary.
Btw, here are many bad movies:
http://us.imdb.com/bottom_100_films
>> Such as Black Hawk Down, etc.
>That was a damn good movie.
Second that, great stuff.
Worst movie ever ?
Fire on the Amazon.
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0106913
I'm a big Sandra Bullock Fan and this was the only one I did not know. I should have left it at that. Sandra has a nude scene there. Looks great, but still I wish I never heard of it. It's so stereotypical, it's absurd. I can't even begin to describe how bad it is.
> Sandra has a nude scene there
SOLD!
> but what really scares me is people (including Scott himself) saying that BHD is very realistic, or even documentary.
I've never heard anything else about it - you have proof that's not the way things actually happened?
>>but what really scares me is people (including Scott himself) saying that BHD is very realistic, or even documentary.<<
Ah yeah, talking about different things. I wasn't claiming that BHD was true to life cos frankly I haven't a clue what really happened out there. I just think it paints quite a good picture of war itself, being very nasty regardless of whose side you are on.
True, realism is a complex term; I do not doubt that the guns, choppers and environment is realistic, for example.Quote:

But the quotes and behaviour of the americans contra the somalis is another matter:
"We don't want your american democracy, we like war down here" (paraphrased)
I have written an analysis of this subject for Växjö University, so I'm not completly writing of the top of my head, but I admit that it is a very complex question. Unfortunaly it's written in Swedish.
But realistic -- no. Just look at the the two clowns in the middle of the movie (the hearing impaired and the other). WTF is that?
And why do the americans shoot so much better than the somalis all the time?
Have you seen The birth of a nation? The crashed helicopter scene reminds much of the mulatto's men storming the small cottage. Enough said.
The latest one was Jason X.. oh god *shutters*
There was one a long time ago that I watched, I can't remember the name, the plot was actually a pinyata coming alive and killing people.
I've seen too many of those... I Accuse My Parents, Manos, etc... Thank you, Mystery Science Theater!
I think some of the things added to BHD were added solely for entertainment (like the deaf guy... I agree with you there - wtf?). When you look at the numbers, though - how many dead on both sides? Like less than 20 Americans and about 1000 Somalis? It's pretty clear to me who shot better - the guys in the move are Delta Force and Army Rangers - that's the best of the best, there. They sure better shoot better than some somali civilian or militia member.
> The crashed helicopter scene
But that's what happened. IIRC, they actually did parade the guy's stripped body through the streets.
Worst Ever?
Lord of the Rings
(I'll get the fire extinguishers)
Just a guess... Because in the context of the movie the Americans depicted are highly trained, professional soldiers (weren't they supposed to be some type of special forces unit?). The Somalis on the other hand are probably just guys off the street who have been given guns and forced to fight for a particular warlord. They may have little formal training in the use of their weaponry and their knowledge of small unit/squad tactics might be severely lacking which could contribute to them not knowing of or taking proper advantage of available cover and suppressive fire techniques and well-coordinated assaults; all of which could potentially contribute to them appearing to be struck by fire much more than the Americans.Quote:
And why do the americans shoot so much better than the somalis all the time?
I think you may need more than that, Davros... :)
Why do you think that?
>I think you may need more than that, Davros...
Well, actually the question was simply what was the worst film, rather than what is the worst film & why?
But since you're asking, then because it's the most boring, long drawn out and pointless drivel I have ever seen. What really got me is that it finished at 23:05, whereas if it had had the decency to finish at 22:50, I could have made it to the pub for last orders (bars/pubs close at 23:00 in the UK).
Also, the film never had an ending. Rather it abrubtly stopped in the middle of the action. If I'd have known this was going to happen, I could have left half way through & made it to the pub instead.
I think the film relies on 'intellectual snobbery', where people claim that to enjoy the film you had needed to read all the books first, and because they had read all the books they are more cleverer. King & no clothes and all that.
I'll be the first to say I don't really like the books (Tolkien's writing style's not for me), but I really enjoyed the movie... I think the ending was fine, since you go into it knowing there're 2 more movies coming out...
Wait - which LOTR did you mean? Fellowship or the Two Towers?
>but I really enjoyed the movie.
That's OK. Glad you enjoyed it.
>Wait - which LOTR did you mean? Fellowship or the Two Towers?
Errh? The first one.
>since you go into it knowing there're 2 more movies coming out
Bah! I'm not gonna be suckered into watching any more.
1. The Blair Witch Project. This overhyped movie was so awful that I kept wondering when the "scary parts" would happen. They never did. Instead, I listened to a group of people shout profanities while running around in the woods and shakily holding their camera.
2. Hackers. Script kiddie culture adores anything that gives them a view of the life of a "real hacker." It was really a crappy love story with bad music and Angelina Jolie at her least attractive. Every time a computer screen was shown, it was some sort of unrealistic 3-D thing, which made the whole thing seem like some half-attempted joke.
3. Any musical.
4. Dude! Where's My Car? This movie was repetitive with a poor plot. Few of the jokes were funny at all.
5. James Bond: The World Is Not Enough. I stopped watching it half way through. Luckily, it was only a rented video.

Woohoo, someone with the bottle to speak out!! I too am not into the whole fantasy stuff either and although I didn't think it was as bad as you did, I certainly found it no better than mediocre. And like you, I definitely notice an air of pretentiousness (is that a word?) around it. It's like, if you didn't like it, you can't have understood it or you are to narrow minded to appreciate the 'beauty' of it. Up until now I just played along with the whole 'oh yeah it's great', but nice to see I'm not the only one who didn't think it all that great.
EDIT: just thought of another movie:
Planet of the Apes (Utter rubbish, and after all that hype)
>Planet of the Apes (Utter rubbish, and after all that hype)
Watchable, but failed to live up to much.
No, it was definitely pretentious. Also, half the length would be cut out if they would have cut every scene of someone staring longingly at the ring or Frodo crying.
I still like it, though - it's an epic tale that's told pretty well, IMHO. It's also one of the only decent fantasy movies out in awhile.
> Planet of the Apes (Utter rubbish, and after all that hype)
The new one or the old one?
New one, with Estelle whatever her name was.
Wait, you expected that to be good? You expected a movie with Marky Mark to be good?
::shakes head::
I had more faith in you, minesweeper... ;)
>>Wait, you expected that to be good? You expected a movie with Marky Mark to be good?

ROFL.....
He he, guess we are all susceptible to a bit of movie hype....
Actually it is the other way around, let me quote an american soldier, complaining how he never has fought:Quote:

"I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama."
We see other young american newbie soldiers as well.
The Somalis OTOH has had a long time of civil war.
The parading of the body is my least objection to that scene, but it's not so much a question on what really happend as how it is depiced on the screen.Quote:
But that's what happened. IIRC, they actually did parade the guy's stripped body through the streets.
Remember the dying soldier with a photo of his family in his hand?
> Remember the dying soldier with a photo of his family in his hand?
That's frequently referred to as "drama". Being a dramatic movie, I'd expect to see some.
> We see other young american newbie soldiers as well.
That's all well and good, but the casualty figures don't lie. Wayyyy more Somalis than Americans died in Mogadishu that day. It makes sense to me that the Americans shot better, at the very least.
Nemesis was pretty bad, bunch of old geezers with canes limping around and shooting each other with phazers. I mean come on, Star Trek is much better than stooping to the "bad guys always miss no matter how close they are while the good guys have perfect accuracy from a mile away" action movie cliche.
My favorite part was when Riker told Worf to cover for him, then proceeds to slowly shuffle over to the vent amidst heavy fire, then just sorta falls over into it. Blech.
Worst:
Judge DRED(stallone)
All (recent) SWarzinegar films.
Also, 1st "Lord of the rings" couldn't watch it after 30mins.
I hope nobody has said Karate Kid yet. :)
Seriously, I like the movie, all 3 of the first "Daniel Son" trilogy that is. That movie gets slammed alot...surprised it hasn't been mentioned. I like it. :)
Bad movie though, wow, since I went through a horror film run a few years ago, renting every possible horror movie I could find(B-grade or not)...I could name a few. I'll stick to something with recognition though.
Harry Potter/LOTR. (Choose one)
How can people hate Star Wars, those movies are awesome.
There arent many movies I dont like, I would a very nice critic, but one I didnt really like was We Were Soldiers.
>> Jason X
I liked that movie!
You don't know what you're talking about. You thrive off of the media.Quote:

didn't notice if anyone mentioned this:
Eight legged freaks
I saw the documentary on Black Hawk Down and the movie was very close to that, in fact I wish the movie did a better job at highliting certain facts.
The somalis are STUPID ppl and they believe what their warlords tell them, The somalis were incensed at the US for capturing and killing their warlords who were criminals but the STUPID muslim fools cant think for themselves allowing for open hostility to the US soldeirs.
Here's a neat FACT that's mentioned in the movie but not explained very well. The somali militia are drugeez they chew a plant called COT which is like cocaine and it numbs them and they do it everyday at mid Afternoon when the this incident took place so the somali gunmen were hopped up on COT and that's why they stood out in the open and shot at our guys, but that's also the reason the SOMALI's had nearly 10,000 casualties.
You should watch or read the book on Black Hawk Down and you'll see how TRUE it is.
It is one of the greatest movies.
Starship Troopers rocks!
That was all I had to say! :-)
I'm on the side of not liking Black Hawk Down. Not overly interesting, and the whole American Heroes type ending didnt appeal to me either. It was on the border of (almost) being ok until the end.
Having said that, i actually couldn't watch the second half of Pearl Harbour. That would probably be my least favourite movie (well the first half of it ;)).
Also on the list are Blair Witch Project and all Star Wars movies.
Eight legged freaks was a good movie beacuse of its stupidity but my vote is for..... dude wheres my car and any movie with those retards in them.
i liked dude wheres my car, i want to go see just married, his new one.
Everyone is mentioning cool movies...But the worst movie ever created is Triple X. It is too much like a video game and nothing like a half-way decent movie. Now Minority Report was "Pimpin" as cool people might say.
I'm glad that I haven't seen many of the movie you've mentioned as the worst movie ever...
damonbrinkley, When I said realistic I didn't mean very realistic, but at least something that you could think it would happen, many movies ( at least good ones ) are in a way or another realisic...
But ofcourse I know what's good to some one might be considered bad for a nother...
Haven't seen the movie (the preview was bad enough), but i know what you mean. I only wish that video games weren't like that. Then we would have more decent games too ;)Quote:
But the worst movie ever created is Triple X. It is too much like a video game and nothing like a half-way decent movie
You guys sound like you go into some movies thinking they're going to be more than they are. I mean, XXX is a stupid, over-the-top action movie with Vin "The title of the movie is the only way I can sign my name" Diesel in it. It's not Citizen fscking Kane. It's an entertaining action movie.
Virtuosity, Cyborg and Naked Lunch - in that order.
Exactly...Quote:

I agree with him...
I thought XXX was going to be a good movie, but I was dissapointed... I should've seen the trailer before...
The worst film I have ever seen is American Beauty, closely followed by sliding doors!
> The worst film I have ever seen is American Beauty,
!!
!
(I wanted to say something else, but all this profanity is filling my mind right now - it can't get out at the same time)
XXX wasn't great, but I was going in expecting no plot lots of action, and thats what I got so I can't complain. Now Minority Report was crap, no way around that! What a dissapointment that was...
And American Beauty being awful??? Are you out of your mind?? That is definately one of my top 10 favorite movies! Wow that was well done!
> Wow that was well done!
No kidding - that's as close to a perfect movie as I can remember.
Hey, you liked it, I though it sucked! We are allowed to have different opinions!
Of course we are allowed different opinions, but what's the point in having them if you can't argue about them? :p
> We are allowed to have different opinions
No way - I am allowed to have a different opinion. Just me :)
What didn't you like about that, though?
I would say that American Beauty is one of the worst movies I've seen, it made me feel bad when I saw it, it gives a bad picture of the American Society!
Meet Joe Black
I hate that ****ing piece of dog****.
Lol, well. Maybe because America has some of the most elite and best trained troops in the world? The people depicted in that movie were not Army privates straight out of basic. They were Rangers & Delta Force. People in the Army DO shoot ALOT better than Somalis. Thats a FACT, not "movie propaganda."Quote:

Another FACT you seem to have forgotten:
18 or 19 (Sorry, memory escapes me) American soldiers died.
About 1000 Somali's died.
This is no fantasy. This is what HAPPENED.
Comic relief. Can you take a joke? Thats what happens when you have a M249 SAW fired next to your head. Am I the only one who got that?Quote:
But realistic -- no. Just look at the the two clowns in the middle of the movie (the hearing impaired and the other). WTF is that?
Whilst on the subject of films, has anyone seen 'The Gangs of New York' yet? Man, that is one violent film, it's good, but boy have I never seen anything remotely as horrific as that!!!
I've seen the movie, I think it's boaring!
Maybe because I don't like that type of movie, or maybe I because I don't like Leonardo Di Caprio...
spoon_ :
Go watch "A birth of a nation", I'd say that movie is quite realistic, according to your defininition.
Still, it's one of the most racist movies ever produced. That's exactly my point.
Cant wait to see it!Quote:
