I'm okay. Pulled a muscle due to a minor error exercising with weights. No relationship between that and the server down time though.
Did someone trip on the server power cord?
Without this site, I am nothing T_T
I literally had nowhere else to go. Sure, there's always GameFAQs but that site can't even begin to compare to this.
John, you need to find some way to broaden your horizons.
Hardly any other forums are as quick as this. I can go to the CUDA boards but they're slow. GameFAQs' social boards are usually full of trolls or children who I don't feel like arguing with all the time.
This place is full of people who are intellectually stimulating and respond quickly. We enjoy debating, standing up for what we think and believe in. This is a tight-knit community that is actually helpful. It's a good place to be.
I suppose there's always Reddit but eh, I don't like the way that site does conversations and quoting.
You could have visited Illogicopedia. It's one of the few sites where people know whats the true epitome of art. "tight-knit community" totally applies too.Quote:

You guys know why this site was down for so long? Because PHP XD
;_;
I have a sprained finger from F5'ing so hard.
Poor Salem is near dead...
Soma
Aha! Obviously, the downtime was all your fault!Quote:

John, there are horizons offline too. Not all means of interaction involve transistors.
Yes but you haven't lived until you've dated a field effects transistor, with just the right doping.
Girls, hopefully without too much doping, are much more interesting on a date than FETs. If less predictable.
Honestly grumpy, have you ever seen the legs and the nipple on an FET? There's just no comparison!
Ok, the count so far...
Grumpy was unarmed throughout the whole thing, but got himself injured afterwards on a paper weight. He's an idiot.
MutantJohn is lost. We are still trying to find him.
Jackass was somewhere else trying to fix an error on an illogical server. He's ok. Perhaps...
Phantomotap is badly injured and needs immediate medical attention (*).
Laserlight is violent and hysterical. Post traumatic disorder may be the diagnosis, if we can restrain him.
Gemera is confused. he's acting weird around the computers. Seems ok otherwise but I won't go near him. You go.
Salem is near dead. Phantomotap is letting no one near him.
Myself, I'm counting my likes and see if any is missing. I'm fine. Really.
Still there's many unaccounted for. And we just got an aftershock. Bad times, bad times.
(*) You can take our legs, our ability to speak, even our ability to procreate. But you can't take our hands or eyes. We are programmers, dammit!
Well, your icon did grow a beard in the downtime... :P
It was an odd thing though. Pinging the website didn't return any "host unreachable" ICMP message (it worked normally), but trying to telnet on port 80 failed to connect. I haven't been learning networking for too long a time (maybe a month and a half), I was thinking it meant that the server host was running, but that the application was off?
Ahhhh Cmon - I can't be the only one here that buys hard core under-the-counter electronics magazines.
It wasn't a paper weight. It was actually a pair of 20 kg kettlebells. I'd just finished a quick series of reps, was a bit tired and lazy, and didn't apply good technique to put one of them down. My fault, definitely, for lack of concentration but I dispute the claim of idiocy.
Maybe not. But your emotional focus is a bit different.

Now that is idiocy.
Don't you watch movies or television?
The natural state of "programmer" is either: scrawny weakling or orange potato.
*shrug*
You also have the silly attractive Kate Libby from "Hackers", but that's the sort of film with cooperative keyboard interface extravaganza so can't be trusted.

That video gave me cancer. Lol.
I do .... but I don't typically watch shows about programmers, nerds, or geeks.
Although (gasp!) I confess to developing software on occasion, I've never claimed to be a programmer ;) I also prefer good quality vegetables over processed starch.
I've known some (self-described) programmers who happen to be attractive women. Not all of them were silly.
Did you just make that image up? That site worx fine here. And even if Illogicopedia doesent work, there's always Uncyclopedia to go to.
This Uncyclopedia that is...the others (like the Wikia one) are splits-ups and sites that were left to die but for some reason didnt, taken over by dip........s perhaps. The one I've linked to is where all the common-to-illogicopedia characters are there.
It's ok right now so you can visit it if you want. Trust me, you dont know what satire is unless you've read Illogico.

I can't believe you are actually being so serious about it!
Says grumpy right on the label.

Can I just emphasise:
" I am not nor have I ever had sexual relationships with my computer or its associated components."
I dunno though, I mean capacitors - ceramic capacitors specifically - 2 legs , flesh coloured and smoooooooth and round. I mean it's pretty close? Hmmmmmmm..........................................
Hey guys is there a good f86 server all I see that is populated is the Phoenix and Dow servers
Go ask where people actually care: Is there a good f86 server
