I personally like text rpg's. They're great for easy programming, and good for learning new stuff about the language when your starting out. I say go for it. :D

Get a copy of Zork.
All of the online MUDS right now use SMAUG codebase and all of them have almost identical interface. Makes it boring cuz every mud is almost the same besides maybe a few monsters and special features. This year i made a text rpg it was really boring though but at least i got more familiar with classes+pointers.
I had made up 75% of the delphi code for a sever/client proggy for a MUD i was gona make.. Damn C++ diverted my attentions away form it. was a decetn server, was gona work on levels and what not when i finished it but never did .
Check out the first RPG, Adventure. Started playing it in the early 70's on a PDP10. Spent many, many hours on it.Quote:
