Distorted graphics in DirectX

A friend is having some serious graphical issues, he sent me the attached screenshot(s).

I told him to:

• Update graphics drivers
• Reinstall DirectX 9.0c
• Check DxDiag for any problems
• Test it out with other DirectX games
• Change game resolution/color depth

Some info about his system:

Graphics: Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics controller
Memory: 256 mb

Hes tried it all, nothing's working.. Anyone have any idea why this happens? Post if you need more information or a different screenshot..

Some more information:

Just before this started to happen, his game crashed to the infamous blue screen of death with the error: 'Beginning physical memory dump', after that happened, he started getting these 'artifacts'.

How can you tell the graphics are distorted when the game looks nasty anyway? :p

lol, the game is fine trust me :D those black patches are the distortion, i have no idea what the hell it is :D
