Valve's games are only 30% off. Go figure. And Bethesda regrettably has no part in this.
But still a lot of good games on sale - one that stood out to me was the Call of Duty Pack - it's all of Infinity Ward's games except MW2, with the savings of the buying in a pack plus 75% off.
That's 5 GREAT games for $30.
Wait... that's exactly like the orange box.
EDIT: Woot! Post number 200!
If you like airplanes, buy Altitude. The best flight sim ever created.
Can you suggest something that doesn't involve killing people?
I recently bought World Of Goo and was completely blown away. I want more.
There is, say, Overload 2. First game was a funny one. 66% off.
There is King's Bounty. From what I understand, it's like Heroes of Might and Magic.
And there are probably lots others. It would probably be easier to browse the different categories.
King's Bounty was a mighty fun game back in its day... and the first turn-based strategy that I'd ever played. I don't know about the remake, though.
Braid is a lot like World of Goo in the sense that it's a puzzle/platformer made by an independent developer. But obviously there's a whole different point to the game, not to mention a protagonist. Regardless, it got good reviews and it doesn't involve killing people.Quote:

...And in that same vein there's Eets, which is essentially a Lemmings clone.
Last day for the sale is today. There are 602 games for at least 30% off the original Steam price. They took some games down recently but now have them all back up and on sale. Only problem today is the servers are so busy that you can't download anything.
While browsing through the "discounted" games, I found only a few interesting ones. Actually, I found one. The other one was just heavily discounted which kind of made up for its failures.
I'm not really sad in seeing it go. Hopefully we'll see better games next time.
Kings Bounty is like a Might and Magic fan wet dream (not to mention fans of the original Kings Bounty). It's really exceedingly great. I highly advise both the The Legend and the sequel Armored Princess.
Don't play the sequel first. It introduces new features, but in my opinion lacks a bit on the level design department, where The Legend is really top notch. So for a better experience start with "King's Bounty: The Legend", embrace it's great level design, exquisite character development and plenty of hours of gameplay. Then move on to the sequel "King's Bounty: Armored Princess", where some of the rough edges of the initial game are dealt with (like a little too much walking back and forth, etc) and new features are introduced, but lacks a bit (in comparison) in story and map design.
Purposely changing the subject, I only wished X-COM pntelectual property had been so well treated as Kings Bounty was. Instead, you'll get a FPS sometime in the near future. I can't wait to play X-COM as a FPS, NOT!
Well it wasn't on Steam but I d/l Brother's In Arms: Hell's Highway from D2D and played through it this July 4 weekend. All I can say is....wow.....what a game!!! IMO it is better, more realistic, grittier, more captivating, bloodier, and better than any COD game. One wild ride to be sure.
I bought at least 4 games off of Steam during the sale and only spent about 30 dollars. Hats off to Steam, D2D, Impulse, and all the other online companies who are keeping PC game sales alive long after the retail stores abandoned it. And now they whine b/c PC retail game sales are down. All I can say is they had their chance and blew it but then again who can compete with a server that can sell games from 10 years ago and really not care about taking up space. Retail stores just can't compete with online sales. I also buy games from other online sellers as well and have gotten a bit spoiled by all of it. As long as there is an internet there will be PC game sales.
Pains me to hear you saying that Bubba. Of all people. But I know you are right.
I'll will always give retail a first look before I buy anything online, though. Until it is completely dead I will not sign its obituary. Besides I'm still hoping retail stores recognize their mistakes and alter their business strategy (hard to see that one coming because they are doing the exact same mistakes with console gaming). I do see however an increase in the number of game specialized stores. If these keep climbing, it's possible that the accumulated sales top the big surfaces who ruined the game retail business and the whole business gets again a new breath.
