wireless networks
hey i need a little help setting up a wireless network
ive set up wired networks befor but never a wireless network
what is the difference between a wireless router and an acess point
from what i can tell if you want to have the internet conection be on more then one of the computers i would need a router
if i want to hook up 7 computers is all i would need is a wireless router and 7 wireless cards snd then set it up the same way as a wired network software wise or do i need any other hardware will 1 router be able to hold all 7 computers without any aditional hardware
thanks

A router should be able to handle 254 connections (theoretically). The difference between a WAP and a wireless router is that the WAP doesn't have a built-in DHCP server, so it requres whatever is in the WAN/Uplink port to assign the IPs, whereas the router assigns the IPs itself.

thanks
so if i allready have a wired router i can just go from my cable modem to the wired router to an wireless access point and then that would work
or i could just get a wireless router and not use my wired router at all

Either of those should work fine.
