I'd like to hear people's takes on this. Guessing there was probably a previous thread, but let's start a new one since the grand jury verdict is out and people are rioting in multiple places.

A robber was killed. A positive outcome. The color of his skin however seems to be the problem. USA is moving fast to the day when you can only shot white people on the streets.
Can anyone point me to an..err...unbiased report of the event ?
Unbiased media report?
No.
I believe though that the grand jury transcripts have been released.

It's pretty hard to remain completely objective in something like this... we all have a race and culture and that affects our perspective of the matter, for better or worse. You can't look at any given article or comment on the matter and say for certain what kind of bias or lack of bias is present in their statement. There is really no way to know exactly what happened in the encounter and no witness is truly credible.
If you are curious to get a full scope of the evidence, you can pour through the entire record of the grand jury as well as all of the witness and police reports filed:
Documents from the Ferguson grand jury
My only opinion after reading the court documents (from post #5) is that all the eye witnesses testimony is untrustworthy (at least to me, because it is conflicting and emotionally colored), and that I couldn't make anything out of the mish-mash of evidence in text form.
The only thing I'm sure about is that if a person has formed a concrete opinion on this case, they didn't form it from reading the same thing I just did. Police should have a recording going always, for everyone's protection.
Whether or not Brown was guilty is irrelevant because his death is indicative of something much larger. In America, like 12-13% the population is black and yet 66 - 67% of the prison population is black. You don't have to be a mathematical genius to see that something is very disproportionate.
His death is indicative of an overall system that seems to prejudice black people. In America, it doesn't matter who you are or what you do, if you're black, you're black before anything else. You're not a surgeon, you're a black person who happens to be a surgeon. And that's why there's so much civil unrest. People have tried time and time again to speak eloquently on this subject but white people don't believe it or they simply don't want to hear it.
This time, action must be taken because words have proven useless and the situation is staying the same.
Yes. Burning, pillaging and acts of destruction. Because that's really an excellent way to stop the bias you describe.
You don't think black counter-culture has anything to do with it? You may want to look at those numbers and believe it's all white men fault. But I'm personally reminded of stuff like hoes', pigs' and guns' messages in rap music, indicative of a pro-violence culture. But you are going to argue it's because the poor sods don't have the same opportunities...Quote:

And, curiously enough, blacks are the first to remind you of that. They will also make a point of letting you know, before anything else, that you are white.Quote:

Jesus Christ...
What does race have to do with it? The eye witness testimony was completely different on both sides (not to mention all the "So you helped children earlier that day? Can you confirm that you are not a monster?"). There is no evidence that this was even prejudice, much less indicative of anything.
You can also examine imprisonment and homelessness both along other lines that race and discover similar discrepancy, does this mean that those people now have just cause to riot?
Edit: And his guilt definitely matters, as he is accused of endangering a human beings life through aggressive action. If he was guilty of that, his death was necessary to preserve that life.
Mario pretty much summed it all up already.
The following statement applies to a lot of so-called social issues going on right now or recently: Opportunity is overflowing in the US. There's almost always a way to do what you want, no matter who/what you are. But people continually want to make bad choices and not be held accountable for those choices. You can't be a thug and expect to not be treated like one, simple as that.
My wife is a huge fan of this video posted on Facebook that pretty much sums up everything wrong with what went on: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152314396513715
