Machine_check_exception
I needed to move some stuff around on my desk, it required taking the power block out, hence removing power from my main machine. Work done, I restarted the system, and it came up blue flagging "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION". Powering down and up a couple of times made no difference. It does not give any details as to what has caused this, no hex, just that string.
This has only just happened, so I*ve not searched yet, but in case anyone has a ready answer to get the thing running, (it has a lot of BOINC work running on it which I don't want to loose), it would help.

Bizarre?
This morning, I'd decided to go to the library in town. They have public use computers there, with real screens, i.e. a lot better than trying to work on my wife's little lap top.
Before leaving, I powered up the system to write down anything else it might say that could be helpful. It booted up fine and everything is running as it had been?

Hardware problems can be very flaky.
Could just be something a little loose.
In any case, make sure you back everything up!

In the BIOS, on this machine, lower right on home page, there is a list of bootable devices, arranged in "order of preference" or whatever the correct term is. On the other machine, this list is blank. It has a DVD drive and SSD, but these are not showing. How is this list populated?
