    Internet through Bluetooth

Well this is something I was thinking about today..I would like to know if the following is possible and if it is..how to go about setting it up..I am sure there would be people here who would have thought abt this way before me

I have a laptop and its connected to 2Mbps bb connection via cable. I recently purchased P910i (symbian os) and just wondered if I can use the bluetooth connection on my laptop to transmit the internet onto my phone and browse the internet using my bluetooth phone. I am aware that I can browse internet through GPRS but wud like to know if I can share my network connection over bluetooth..rather than use the GPRS

I also know that some people might think why would I want to browse internet on my pda when i have got the laptop and range limitations with bluetooth would apply with the situation..its just inquisitiveness basically...

A feedback on this question and why this is not possible if it isnt will be much appreciated...

    regards,

The simple answer is no. Bluetooth has the capability to do what you are asking, but it would require software on both the PC and the phone in order for this to work. In other words, if you are asking this question out of mild curiousity, then the answer is no. If you are asking this question in regards to a college senior project, then the answer is probably =)

I think it is possible. A bluetooth network is known as a PAN (Personal Area Network).

Here are some details for windows:

Those links seem to indicate that Windows has the functionality to share internet over a bluetooth connection, but I think you'll find that phones will not allow you to make use of this. I've set up PANs with my phone and my PC before to tranfer files, but it doesn't have the capability to get internet through the bluetooth connection as well.

Of course if anyone can prove me wrong here, I'd love to hear about it.

    once again..

    Well,

Some interesting output on this issue. Well I am thinking in the lines of implementing such a thing but an already existing software which does this would be a good starting step.

Thanks anyways for the output....People who have interesting observations on this pls do jot ur message down..will be appreciated..
