In which header file is inet_aton() located? The man pages for it read:
Code:
#include <sys/socket.h>
#include <netinet/in.h>
#include <arpa/inet.h>
But even after including them I still get:
Code:
warning: implicit declaration of function `inet_aton'
I'm using Linux if that matters. I read about the function in Beej's Guide to Network Programming, and it said that it might not be available on all systems.
EDIT: The function is indeed prototyped in <arpa/inet.h>, so why is GCC complaining?
EDIT: #define __USE_MISC solves it, but is that really the right way to do it?
Also a quick question: If you're sending multibyte data, is it standard to make it big-endian? The reason I'm asking is because I was trying to read a couple of 4 byte integers from a socket on another computer (not my program), and it kept sending me the data as little-endian.
