    Question cable to router

I was just wondering if anyone know a problem about a cable box sending to the router, but not being online. I ping my computer and I am receiving a connection, but the internet will not work. This goes in and out. Could this have to do with Cat5 utp wires being cold?? Just a guess... Any other ideas?

If you're pinging yourself, you're using the loopback interface. That is there since boot-up 'till shut-down and has nothing to do with being connected to a network.
I've never heard of ny problem with Cat5 cables being cold, are you sure everything is connected correctly?
It'd be helpful if you could tell us what route the packets are souposed to take from the moment they leave your computer to the moment your ISP takes care of them.
