My router also comes with the ethernet option as well as the usb. If I use the ethernet , everyhing is fine. But., if i use the USB option , the router is not even getting detected. What exactly should i do to make this device work?

Does your kernel support USB network devices? This specific device?

What about something else useful like which OS / Distro / patch level you have?
Did you check the manufacturer's FAQ ?
