    damn gnome

    howdy,
i have been using the gnome desktop for my interface into rh 7.2 but it seems to do weird stuff, like right now i have no task bar at the bottom of my screen to allow moving from one app to another. when i try to cut and paste between apps i get different results different times for example i can not copy code from emacs and paste it into netscape so i open my .cpp files in gedit and can copy and paste from there just fine however going from netscape to emacs works every time.
i have about 6 months of experience with linux.
which interface do you guys use?

download gnome 2 beta (last checked) it is available and have quite a log of bug fixes. or if you can wait then wait till on 18'th march when kde 3 will be released i am using kde3 beta 2 ... it kicks ass and has no probs at all ...

both gnome and kde rules ... all rest is your choice ...if you are a windowz user you will like kde more then gnome ( i suppose .

    kde

    howdy,
after i posted above i switched to kde and came back to c prog... on konqueror,
i seems to run fine. maybe ill use this version of kde until the new version is released.
i am forced to use windoze because my bussiness is CAD and AutoCad rules that world, besides that i have detemined to br M$ free by the end of this year. imagine that a construction company running on straight linux.

may be this will help you...

frankly i didn't like konqueror as a browser but as a file and network manager it's too good ... the best browser i know on linux is none other then OPERA ... it rocks

    cheers

Yeah.. opera is a nice browser. I prefer the windows version over the opera version, but the opera version still gets some workout in Linux .

An advantage of Gnome is, that it hasnīt as high requirements than KDE.
