Is XLib included in all Linux Distros? What about Solaris/OSX?

I'm looking to get the position of the mouse on the screen. I'm hoping that there's one library that all linux distros use (so i don't have to worry about bundling/requiring any external libraries for this) that can do this. I saw that XLib has a good way to do it but I'm not sure if all distros have it or not.

    Is there a better way?

If some system has X, it has Xlib.
