Who agrees that Salem should have his admin priviledges revoked for abuse of them?

I've just found he closed a perfectly valid thread just because he didn't like it was going back ON topic, he wanted code to a problem only he saw, I wanted compiler options since I knew only that would help me find it, besides I don't expect him or anyone else to go through 1000s of lines of code looking for what is possibly not even there, as hamster_nz (I think, going on memory here) pointed out it may just be that my code had parts sensitive to the compiler options, either way I was not gonna find out without the compiler options.

(feeling aggrieved, might delete later )

No, I think Salem did the right thing.

There was no way that anybody could help you with your issue given the information you provided.

No matter what anybody said or whatever help was offered, You really wanted to find a unicorn compiler option that doesn't exist, doesn't make sense, and if it did exist would not help you with your problem.

Worst of all you committed the sin of posting code for people to analyze and comment on, which had bugs, and it wasn't even the code you had an issue with. When somebody pointed out that it was buggy, you implied that they were foolish to be looking at it and not realizing that it was useless.

The locked thread has 1400 views, and you really were wasting time for each of those 1400 reader, and lowered the quality of information for people who might come and visit. The sooner it was locked, the better.

However, this is largely expected from your posts, where you treat this forum as an echo chamber for your rambling ideas and self-made problems:

    Experiment in makefile went wrong...

    #include handling related bug

Node functions not quite working as expected

    Custom "sprintf" type function

Linkage error I'm not seeing the cause of

The code was in response to what other people had talked about (the off topic stuff I mentioned), and yes the compiler option WOULD'VE helped since it would prevent the debug-able binaries from giving a different behaviour to the release binaries, which was the primary problem getting in the way of me locating the bug the fast way, the thread was entirely relevant and should NOT have been made about code that was irrelevant to the problem I was facing to get fix another problem. Yes I wanted to fix X but Y did indeed fixing too, as Y was only revealed when X was present it only made sense to deal with Y 1st, which in turn would lead to me being able to track down X and if not I could start the relevant thread for it after removing the variable problem Y, it's called the process of elimination, you, salem & many others should try it sometime

Since your posts are mostly you babbling to yourself like a mental patient maybe your account should be deleted. I'd vote for that.

That's only because people fail to respond by the time I have new input, just like I sometimes fail to respond in a timely manor, mostly because I'm getting side-tracked by something

And, last but not least, this is not a democracy. More or less an aristocracy ;-). So, well, a poll might not achieve much

I think the only thing I could fault anyone is that it took so long to close the topic.

By the way, why did you post this in the C forum? This has nothing to do with C programming problems. And really if you have a problem with a moderator you should probably directly contact someone that can actually do something, perhaps another moderator, or better yet how about the webmaster, who has ultimate authority.

Would that I could find the information, also since salem is either the moderator or a moderator (betting the lata) for the C forum it only made sense to place it here where people would actually have experience dealing with him.

Perhaps you should look at the bottom of this thread and click on the "Contact us" "button", that seems like the easiest way to contact the people in charge to me.

First salem is a site wide moderator.

Second the "General Discussions" forum would be a better fit since this topic has nothing to do with C programming.

Ah, I thought he was just for the C forum, then even more reason he shouldn't be closing threads, that task should only be in the hands of a forum specific moderator, site wide ones should only be focused on what users to give/revoke what privileges to/from.

To my knowledge there is no moderator on this board that is only a moderator on a single sub forum. All the moderators I'm aware of have moderation abilities on all the various sub forums.

Remember you were warned about needing to post relevant content (code) before the topic was closed, so get over it and move on.

But that request was IRRELEVANT to the topic, under no circumstances should a moderator demand a thread be redirected to a different topic to what it was started for, that IS abuse of power (and yes I have sent the email reporting his outrageous action)

What is your desired endgame here? because the politics are not on your side - Salem has respect and support of others, and you are rapidly burning through yours.

I had a look back on some old threads I vaguely remembered, and see nothing has changed in over two years:

problem with search algorithm or its data

The mods should lock this thread too, and suspend the account if another thread like this one pops up.

What just like salem lost all respect from me the moment he decided the topic of a thread is unimportant and should only ever be what he declares it to be? That's dictatorship, anyone who supports that has automatically lost my respect. Sure it appears the politics are not on my side but that's what democracy & freedom of speech bring sometimes, salem completely ignored my freedom of choice to seek a out a specific solution just to satisfy his narrow viewpoint, that is NOT democracy, that is dictatorship.
