    Laser printers.

Quick question. My old Laserjet 4 has been slowly falling to bits for years, it is time for a new one. I'd figured a colour one would be nice to have, and there are plenty to choose from. Does the toner(s) lie quietly until used, ie. they will work on day one, and not be used again for a year, will work as day one did? I have had dried up ink in inkjets etc. I want a printer that will function with VERY occasional use. I expect this is the case, but thought I'd make sure.

Forget this, I got a reply from HP, they seem to think it would be the same and therefore no problem with infrequent use.

I use my B&W laser printer once every couple of months with no toner issues.

If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. "Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.
