Wink get to know you thread

Hey guys just wanted to ask a few questions to get to know you programmers and what brought you to this world.

    I'll try a 5 point question.

1 What made you start learning coding?

2 What is your current job does it involve coding ?

3 how long have you been working on skills toward coding?

4 How do you rate your skills out of 10 for coding?

5 Are you constantly improving your coding?

Haha i managed to make them all end with coding.

Hope to get to know some of you.

    Here are my answers.

    1. I started in 2010 with a basic prg course for college first time i was ever exposed to C found it interesting.

2 Now i currently deliver beds in new zealand. Just a temp job for now. When i go home i will return to electronics and do some minor coding for circuitry.

    3. i studied my first two years until Grad. Got my diploma and have been on a crazy 5 year world tour since then.

    4. 1.5 of 10. Yeah i forgot everything haha

    5. Yeah i study basically when i get free time.

    !!!! ))

If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. "Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.

1 What made you start learning coding?
    Programming microconrollers

2 What is your current job does it involve coding ?
    R&D Engineer - Yes - Using C, C#, and occationally assembly

3 how long have you been working on skills toward coding?
    2005-ish

4 How do you rate your skills out of 10 for coding?
Depends who you are comparing me with...

5 Are you constantly improving your coding?
I'm always seeking better ways of doing things
Fact - Beethoven wrote his first symphony in C

    1. What made you start learning coding?
I always wanted to and knew that it would be hard but I could do it. But I just had a whole bunch of things to do as I was in college trying to be a doctor. Life happened, I got sick, had to drop out,and now I’m looking for new opportunities. So going back to the thing that always comforted me, electronics.

    2. What is your current job does it involve coding ?
No, I wish it did, it’d force my butt to learn faster lol. Unemployed due to disability.

    3. how long have you been working on skills toward coding?
If you count BASIC from high school(I wouldn’t.) a while, if your smarter than that(I forgot EVERYTHING), this year.

    4. How do you rate your skills out of 10 for coding?
MAYBE 1, but only if you don’t count zero and negative numbers lol, jk I’m new so 1-2.

    5. Are you constantly improving your coding?
For now, yes, every day I make it a goal to learn at least 3 new concepts, then go back over 5 old concepts and try to put them together. I read a lot of books and watch and read ALOT of tutorials.

1 What made you start learning coding?

My grandmother was a computer programmer. When she came to visit me as a kid, it inspired me to start playing around with GW-BASIC on an old XT computer. The thing that really got me hooked originally was making pretty graphics. A few years after that, a friend started learning C, which got me into the language...and it went from there.

2 What is your current job does it involve coding?

My current job doesn't directly involve coding - I run incubation and early stage idea generation programs at Dropbox.

3 how long have you been working on skills toward coding?

    About 27 years.

4 How do you rate your skills out of 10 for coding?

I'm good enough to pass the tech interviews at most software companies, but I'm not going to win at TopCoder.

5 Are you constantly improving your coding?

I spend some time every day writing code or learning new tech concepts in a hands-on way. (I find that small amounts of time applied consistently to something are much more useful than large amounts of time inconsistently applied.) I'm currently teaching myself Haskell.

Re: get to know you thread

1.) What made you start learning coding?
Well, I enjoy learning about different types of programming languages and being able to solve problems using them. I have a fascination towards artificial intelligence and robotics as well, so learning how to code seems like a natural progression into my interests.

2.) What is your current job does it involve coding ?
I am currently a student at a university pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science. I'll be looking towards internships beginning next summer, or whenever I feel more comfortable using data structures.

3.) how long have you been working on skills toward coding?
I have been working on my skills towards coding since last year.

4.) How do you rate your skills out of 10 for coding?
Until I become more comfortable with various data structures, I am probably not very employable at the moment. Along with other concepts such as polymorphism and recursion... so I would likely rate my skills either a 0 or 1 out of 10 for now.

5.) Are you constantly improving your coding?
Yes, every day. I am attempting to learn C a bit more in detail as my professor prefers C++ rather than the C portion of our C & C++ Programming course.
