Apple: products for idiots with too much money

Saw this today: Homepod is Apple’s first “breakthrough home speaker,” coming December for $349 | Ars Technica

$349 for Apple's take on the home assistant. This especially killed me:

I don't know how they expect to compete, at that price. Other than the fact that Apple fanboys/girls/other will pay it, I don't see it being especially successful.
What can this strange device be?
When I touch it, it gives forth a sound
It's got wires that vibrate and give music
What can this thing be that I found?

BTW, hey all, it's been a while.

@Elkvis: Agreed. I was reading that article and I gather that the sound quality is supposed to be great, but the sound quality is also great on the full-size Echo, which is basically half the price.

I'm not sure I understand the appeal of yelling things at a single speaker, and listening to music in mono again? Why?

"We want to reinvent home music," Tim Cook told the Monday WWDC keynote crowd
I don't know what's more offensive. If the price, or Tim Cook treating everyone as an idiot.

Anyways, I'm sure it will be a smashing success story of reinvention. Like the watch was.
