I just wanted to let you know that you did a disservice to programmers by locking this relevant topic https://cboard.cprogramming.com/c-pr...ackground.html
People with a little bit of power shouldn't be so eager and quick to discipline others for presumed intentions. One shouldn't assume someone's intentions are sinister. Similar to programs and guns, power can be good or bad, depending on how its wielder behaves.
In fact, I was looking for some tips on how to write a similar-but-different program that runs in the background for a different operating system that watches for certain key combinations, and then when it detects certain key combinations, it would do something useful that's taken for granted on many modern OSs.
While this doesn't help me for my target platform, it could help other people with the same platform as the OP.
I'm sure I'll be flamed by programmer justice warriors, or even banned for questioning authority, but I hope that this prevents other useful topics from getting locked undeservedly in the future.
Thank you
