    For my fellow caffeine-heads:

Just found out that they sell caffeinated water and Crystal Light on-the-go packets with caffeine on Amazon (and elsewhere I'm sure). I have acid reflux so I'm not really supposed to have soda or coffee or caffeine at all technically, but this allows me to precisely dose myself without added acid or the crap they have in soda.

Most of the caffeinated water brands have 60mg/500mL (16.9 fl. oz), and the crystal light on the go are the same, but you can get them in 120mg as well.

Crystal Light and its analogues tend to contain citric acid, which is probably not horrible for your acid reflux, but probably doesn't help much either.

It does, thanks for the heads up. I ended up diluting it a bit to stretch it out anyway, seems fine so far. If not I'll just stick with the caffeine water.

We all have our vices. Mine is coffee. I'm fine with milk and filtered water on ice most of the time however I just have to have my instant sweet coffee once a month if I'm allowed by my parents. We asians tend to live long because we the original asians eat fruits vegetables spinachee and the likes. Even chinese mineral water has zero calories so we tend to be thin all year round.

A non-original Asian is one that has been born elsewhere. For instance instead of Asia they where born in America. People in Asia just has like light foods like greens. However in America they have fastfoods so they take to it. It is like you don't think of it and you hear the advertisement on the radio, TV, etc. daily so you think hey why not a greasy burger? So your arteries get clogs and you die at like 76 years old instead of like 100 or so. I see America it is the land of freedom and my parents especially my dad loves that. However you also have to have self-control because if you make the wrong move you only hurt yourself. Look at all the freedom you have: free to buy beer where studies have been shown to kill brain cells; free to buy cigerattes where studies have shown to blacken lungs and cause mutation making cancer of the lunges; etc. Then you have freedom to increase you knowledge through education and this is a big benefit of America. You expand your knowledge so you choose through a reasonable set of criteria.

So you mean a non Asian. Because someone born elsewhere is not an Asian, either originally or otherwise.

You are right, freedom does mean you get to do stupid things if you wish. And pay the consequences for doing it. That's a big part of being free. For instance, in China, where people are free too, you are free to eat Tiger penises, King Cobras, Monitor Lizards, Pangolin testicles, Shark fins, Cave Swift nests, etc, because people in there chose to believe in their mystical medicinal properties, while ignoring the endangered status of all these species or the fact science has yet to produce any evidence of such properties. It's good to be free, even if that means doing the stupid thing.

Better to abstain from caffeine. It is very hard to take something that is not scientifically proven to be effective. You can still try, but make sure you face the consequences. Just my opinion.

There are plenty of scientifically sound reasons to abstain. There are also plenty of scientifically sound reasons to use it. I gave up caffeine in Mid-December of 2015, and completely abstained for about four months. Now, on the unusual (not quite uncommon enough to call it "rare") occasion that I'm feeling a more tired at work than usual, I'll drink a can of Monster Zero, and it kicks my ass right into high performance mode. I don't want to sound like a advertisement, but caffeine certainly has noticeable, measurable, and even dramatic effects for people who use it medicinally, rather than habitually. If you have even a marginally healthy heart, and you need a little boost from time to time, it's literally the perfect go-to substance.

Agree. Wasn't going to touch Judie's quote because it seemed like flamebait (not scientifically proven to be effective? Lol). I've been off and on caffeine since 2010. Once your body builds up a tolerance it doesn't do much beneficially (hence going on and off), but when it works, it works great IMO.

Never occurred to me. Looked at the site, could work, but should avoid carbonated beverages for reflux as well anyway. The syrup they sell for it might be an option though.

Hope you're taking it easy on caffeinated water, we're not really used to "chugging" coffee down and drinking those might make you consume more caffeine than you should.

But there are some effects to it that should warrant more interesting studies than the boring "causes/not cancer' nonsense.
I'd very much like more serious studies, because coffee has a magical effect on me that isn't without its drawbacks.

    First the good:
    - It's a miracle drink in the morning. In just 2 or 3 minutes it completely "washes" my face of those heavy sleepy eyes and makes me feel like I'm fully awake.
    - It has no effect at night. No matter if I got to bed early or late, drinking a coffee sometime before will still have me sleep like a baby.

    Now the bad:
    - I'm addicted to it. Not taking coffee in the morning (rarely, but happens sometimes) will have me grow a huge migraine by lunch time that won't go away until I have a coffee or take something for it.
    - I tried to get rid of the addiction once. It scared me because the effects by the start of the second day were not that different from the emotional and physical charge of nicotine withdrawal.

Like any addictive drug, once you're dependent upon it, you take it simply to avoid feeling bad, rather than to feel good. When I quit caffeine in December, it was two weeks or more, before I actually felt I was free. Those two weeks were riddled with almost daily headaches and fatigue.
