    Cutting the lawn grasses.

Well I just went and cut my parents' lawn grasses. I remember the days when I was in an apartment. Back then the maintenance people had their PRO machines out to do the lawn work! The funny thing is when your parents get a home your neighbours sometimes ask you to do their lawns when they are too busy. I didn't care so I did a little part of my neighbours' lawn. I guess doing the lawn work is a nice break from programming. I couldn't believe I didn't think of programming at all until after I got in and got a bit of rest.

Nope. No spam bot. I choose to express my freedom of letting people know who's side of the fence I'm on.

If you call fawning over one brand of magic space pixie vs another brand in "good taste".

    Faith is a mental illness.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

Hey, to each his own. I am an atheist but I don't consider religious people as mentally challenged. Reality is much more nuanced than that.

Your rational train of thought doesn't work on muzzie suicide bombers yelling "aloha snackbar" or whatever.

At least Christians managed to move past their "believe as we do or die" mantra. Muslims need to do the same.

I'd like to take the politically correct approach too. After all I have family and friends over that side of the fence. But frankly, I just can't. Something is just wrong with someone who allows faith to be a part of their lives. It's a senseless and completely arbitrary philosophical framework without any sustainability. It's just a hunch, a very strong hunch, a very strong and emotional hunch, a very strong and emotional hunch that changes your habits or your thought process. As such it may indeed be classified one day as a mental illness.

Calm down. Don't let the Brexit prejudiced and racial profiling speech mar your reasoning. You are clearly failing to recognize the large number of extreme Christians spread a little around the world (including western countries like USA and good ol' UK) and committed to spread the same kind of terror in the name of their religion, if only they had the organized means to do so. Both Muslims and Christians face extremists within their midst. And the only reason we see a rise of Muslim extremism is not because of any particular notion within the religion (after all the Christian bible describes and promotes as much hate and prejudice as the Quran), but because of the political and social upheavals of the middle-east that we, happy christian and orthodox westerners, helped foment.

I realize you may not wish any more Muslims in your country because they are evil and all that. I hear soup of muslim children parts is particularly good this time of the year in the UK nationalists meetings. But at least recognize that many Christians, Orthodox, and Jews are equally efed up. And it doesn't take much for them to show how much they like to spread the blood of infidels. EDIT: After all this is not news to you; you should remember it from the times of the Troubles.

IMHO, Faith is probably just an evolutionary trait of our brain to use as a coping mechanism. Our brains have been conditioned for thousands of years with faith. Modern logical thought can only fight this trait so much because it has become quite a defining aspect of us. Even the hardened skeptics can become superstitious at certain occasions, if the circumstances are right.

It might also have improved group cohesion, allowing religious tribes to displace their less superstitious neighbours. And of course religion was tied to literacy and sanitary rules in the past, which surely helped followers.

Look, since we already got here, I'll express my opinion on the subject:

Religion is largely something that is imposed to you from a very young age. The young, immature mind of a child is pretty susceptible to suggestions( e.g. Santa Claus ), especially from trusted figures/authorities such as parents, teachers etc. They are not to blame for believing in the nonsense. Nothing is wrong with their brain. If you were raised believing in ghosts, you would believe in ghosts for at least a big portion of your life. Mental illness is "any of various disorders in which a person's thoughts, emotions, or behavior are so abnormal as to cause suffering to himself, herself, or other people".

Please don't equate fanatics/radicals with everyone else, that doesn't help anyone.
