Will Nintendo Ever Make Daisy a Staple Character?

    Hey Guys!

This is a bit of a fan-girl rant here, but anyway,,,

As you can probably tell from my Avatar I am a huge fan of
Princess Daisy from the Super Mario Bros. universe, and I was just
wondering your views on why they have never made Daisy a staple
character in the series (like Yoshi and Peach), so she can one day
    have her own video game?

I know they use her as a side-character in Mario Kart and the Mario
Party genre, but would it be so hard to update her status in this
regard? Hell even Rosalina who is just a clone of Peach, who was
introduced in Mario Galaxy has been bumped up as a fully playable
character in a mainstream Mario game (Super Mario 3D World).

I know it's silly, but I would love to see Daisy get more attention
in the genre. I mean she was the Second Princess (Pauline being the
    first)... Mario Land anyone?

    "Oh Daisy... Daisy..."

    Thoughts?

    O_o

I'm still waiting on a Zelda game where Zelda is the main character... which also isn't an abomination of a game.

Considering things I've heard from associates in the industry, a lot of publishers apparently still have a "Female main characters don't makes sales." mentality.

May not be true of course, but the latest abortion in the "Metroid" series doesn't even have Samus Aran as a playable character so I'm left to wonder.

    *shrug*

On that note, I think I'd rather not see any of the female characters referenced if they are going to be reduced to a "sex sales" representation.

I mean she was the Second Princess (Pauline being the first)... Mario Land anyone?
    What?

Daisy is "Mario Land" which was after "Super Mario Brothers" which introduced Peach, and I don't recall ever hearing Pauline referred to as a princess.

As far as it goes, a "Super Princess Peach" sequel featuring Peach and Daisy as mains would certainly be welcome.

Of course, Nintendo's different. But equally bad. For Nintendo, it's not "a female main character will not sell," instead it's, "if we have a female main character, who's the male main character going to rescue?"

Knowing Nintendo who's just stuck in the past, I don't think Daisy will ever feature her own game. That's just a guess, though.

Maybe there could be a game where Daisy is the antagonist.

I cannot see her as an antagonist, she's 100% one of the good guys. Even assuming an evil protagonist like Wario or Bowser, you'd still face evil enemies.

Ah sorry my bad there. Pauline was the girl to save in the original Donkey Kong games. I
assumed she was a princess as that is the theme since Mario Land, but yeah your correct Pauline
was just a regular girlfriend (or so I believe).
