What are your hobbies outside of computer-related things?
I'm an outdoors-type person as I was a Boy Scout in my younger years. I've got a Subaru Forester and a dual-sport motorcycle, both of which I putt around on and off-road. I like getting lost in the forest, far away from everything. Hike around a bit, maybe camp.
Those are probably my only "serious" hobbies, I wouldn't really count anything else. I used to enjoy cooking when I had a higher metabolism.
I like to working out, also doing charcoal or graphite art. Probably the non-computer hobby I've gotten the farthest in is juggling though.
I started juggling with tennis balls when I was a kid out of boredom in school. A PE teacher had some homemade clubs that she let me borrow for a week or two. The feeling of juggling the clubs was just so awesome (once I had the idea down) that it stuck with me through adulthood, and I eventually broke and bought my own. For a while I just kept trying to add to the number I could juggle, eventually I hit a wall and instead began learning new patterns instead. My favorite patterns are 534 (doesn't have a pattern name), and 7531 (called "The Tower").
The numbers are called "siteswap" notation, they indicated the relative height or speed of the individual throws. For instance 7531 indicates you throw the first ball at the same height you would throw a ball if you were juggling 7 at the same speed. The second ball at the height you throw with 5, ect. 7531 is nicknamed "The Tower" because all the balls hit their peak at the same time. In programming terms you could call it "The Stack", since you catch the balls in the opposite order they were thrown.
Also, this isn't a hobby, but I built my first snowman ever yesterday (it's the first time snow has stuck to the ground here since I was born):

I play guitar in a heavy metal band. I have a recording studio, whose services I provide to others from time to time, but it's mostly just for me. I do electric guitar and amp tech/repair work occasionally, in exchange for favors from musician friends. I have a few guns, which I like to shoot regularly. I've considered shooting competitively, I but haven't gotten too serious about it yet.
What can this strange device be?

I used to be really big on working out, but since some health issues have popped up I don't get to work out as hard anymore. It's more just to keep me from gaining weight now than being fun.
I would say bike riding is my one other real hobby. Well, that and moba-type games.
What kind of bike do you have? I used to be big on mountain biking when I was in HS, but nowadays I look at the prices of decent bikes and squirm. Bicycle prices have become outrageous, just like some motorcycles.Originally Posted by MutantJohn

Pretty standard hobbies for people living in my area: hiking, backpacking, mountaineering. I ride a bike but it's more of a commuting thing than a hobby. I hunt for and eat wild mushrooms. I am somewhat proficient in stick, sword, and knife combat.
I used to be a brewer, but had to give it up for health reasons. I was very, very good at it though.

Well, I love movies, books and music. So that accounts for a great deal of my free time.
Last year, because of a very, very, old Angolan barber in Maculusso, Luanda I was introduced to real wet shaving. The procedures, the materials, the maintenance, the grooming, the world wide history of the art, we are talking ritualistic shaving. I fell in love. Since then I have been scouring around the best brands and materials, and trying to learn all I can about the actual manual art of wet shaving. Even though it is considered almost sacrilegious to shave yourself, I'm trying to learn both forms.

I tried using a bike for getting around for about a year when I was in college. It's pretty cool being able to take shortcuts and things, but my god do people try to run you over!
I got hit twice in the year, the second time just destroyed my cheap Walmart bike (the person just drove off that time as well). It's always somewhat obvious that people don't pay attention while driving, but on a bike you have to be really careful lol.

I play golf pretty regularly in the summer, and try to go snowboarding once or twice each winter. I thoroughly enjoy firearms and shooting, both for recreational and hunting purposes. I would like to get into reloading my own ammunition some time in the near future. I also enjoy a good RPG video game.
This hits a nerve for me. If you are a cyclist who rides sensibly, then good for you. The cyclists here in my area of CA are extremely careless and seem to think they own the road, almost causing crashes etc. You'll get cyclists who will line up in rows on single lane roads and not move to the side of the road, making everyone go 20 mph and basically make you risk hitting someone else when passing them. I kind of hope they get hit honestly.
Anything is better than the sheep shears they try to get guys to mow their faces with.
It's one of those hybrid bicycles. It has front shocks which I like and much more narrow tires than a regular mountain bike.
It's pretty great though because my route to work uses this awesome bike path and right now, it's just gorgeous. I'm also trying to get a lot faster too and I think it's been working. I'm making some steady increases though I'm not as fast as I'd like to be. Granted, it isn't like a road bike or anything so my speed might be hindered by that. But hey, at least it's not a mountain bike, right? XD
