Wink What do you want for Christmas?

I don't know if most here look forward to presents at Christmas (that aspect of Christmas has gotten less exciting since I've gotten older).

I've got no idea what I should ask for, and I always feel bad when I ask for nothing and my family spends money on things I won't use (it seems like a waste of money.).

    *puts on Santa costume*

However, all of these boxes filled with illegal crime money are really cluttering up my house. So I was wondering if anyone had anything they were wanting for Christmas this year? Are there any games, books, or gadgets that you would like?

    O_o

I tell people to either donate to one of my projects or Child's Play if I can't think of anything I'd find useful.

But then, I have a few hundred books on a list I'd like to read.

I've been wanting "The Room" (The puzzle game for Android; I already own the awfultastic film.) because I'm hugely fond of the genre.

That looks pretty good, point and clicks do well with the controls. I had expected it to be based off the movie when looking it up, then I saw it had high scores, and the confusion WAS TEARING ME APART LISA!

I still have a copy of Myst from years ago. I think it was one of the first games that I looked into the files of. I got stuck hard at some point, and we didn't have the internet then, so I ended up trying to cheat by playing with the files lol.

That looks pretty cool. I keep thinking of getting a new graphics cards, then I remember I have a slim case on my PC, AND IT WOULD TEAR IT APART LISA! (Unless it was low-profile)

The "Myst" series was good, but I find the first games largely overrated thanks to the insane "Oh, you need to be a genius to finish the game." mentality.

    [Edit]
Overrated isn't really the right word, but I can't find a better one.
    [/Edit]

    *shrug*

I gave "The Room" a try; the game is worth the money if you are into that sort of game.

Any idea why a fountain pen would cost $2,100 ? It is made out of Ebonite which according to wikipedia is just a very hard rubber.

No programming language is perfect. There is not even a single best language; there are only languages well suited or perhaps poorly suited for particular purposes.

The lacquer + gold/silver/etc powder techniques required to get the artistic design on the ebonite body.

Plus, Ebonite has a very low spawn rate, and can only be mined with an enchanted diamond pickaxe. [citation needed]

I can't really poke fun though, the art supplies I buy are ridiculously expensive. Even the 9*11" sheets of paper are around 3 dollars a piece (but they are extremely smooth and thick, and can absorb all the graphite you want).

I like rougher paper, with a bit of cotton content, or even paperboard -- but then again, I prefer crayons. (Well, oil pastels on black canvas.) I've got supplies for building a small tiltable drafting table, but living in a city apartment don't have a place to build it, and the local woodshops are too full/busy and annoyingly expensive.

I want a new laptop not because "just because" but really my battery has died already. I don't use this for coding because I have a laptop issued by my company. My personal laptop still has Celeron inside, beat that.

Do you mean your battery is not charging? If it's a NiCad battery, it's probably got the "memory effect" thing going on. If you get a new laptop that also uses this type of battery, remember to unplug it every once and a while and completely drain the battery naturally. It's unintuitive, but it's necessary to maintaining the batteries charge capacity.

For out of date technology though, I have a relative who was still using a dial-up internet connection up until 2-3 years ago (iirc). She didn't even have the excuse of it being cheaper, as it was $40 a month. Telling her about DSL was like talking to that knight from Monty Python, "This horrible internet is but a flesh wound!" lol.

I need a third monitor at work. Or the two mismatched hodgepodge monitors I have now can be axed in favor of three shiny new bling bling 27"ers.

Also, a second 24" one here at home. That's it.
