If you were talking about exponents, it would make just as much sense. Presume that 1 is equal to the perfect name and 0 is equal to the worst possible game. Assuming perfect is not an attainable figure, it would suggest that x is the limit as n approaches 1. Thus each power of x would be inferior to the last an approaches 0 as it increases.
P.S. someone who uses math more than I do might poke holes in my phrasing on limits, but I'm pretty sure everyone understands what I mean.
