    Me

    Hello

    On other forums I belong to members introduce themselves. I cannot find a section here where I should do that but it feels a bit uncomfortable posting when I haven't.

    I'm not a professional programmer but do a lot of programming because I find it fun. I don't know a lot of C++ but I am trying to learn. I do a lot of programming in C but I would not call myself an expert. I probably know enough to do damage but not enough to realise it. I like to think that my C programs are OK but I don't really have any benchmark to gauge that against. This is the first programming forum I have joined but I am a member of lots of photography forums.

    I guess that's a summary of me and I hope to get to know you all better.

    Thanks

    Welcome Hodor!

    Your experience with the other forums shall give you the attitude needed here!

    Best,
    George

    Wait, isn't Hodor a Game of Thrones reference?

    I've always found such introductions to be rather awkward, personally, like a self-help group meeting or something...just creeps me out for some reason.
    Code:
    #include <cmath>
    #include <complex>
    bool euler_flip(bool value)
    {
        return std::pow
        (
            std::complex<float>(std::exp(1.0)),
            std::complex<float>(0, 1)
            * std::complex<float>(std::atan(1.0)
            *(1 << (value + 2)))
        ).real() < 0;
    }

    All I know is that we never usually see those who introduce themselves thusly for more than a week.

    Oh, and welcome, Hodor

    Hello and thank you everyone.

    Hodor is a Game of Thrones reference Mutant John. Actually it's a reference from the books because I haven't watched GoT but it's the same thing.

    Code:
    std::string & Hodor = Game_of_Thrones;

    Nope. I haven't watch it, but I have heard that Hodor is a character that is part of the Game of thrones.

    As a result you should write
    Code:
    class Game_of_Thrones{
    public:
              ....
    private:
             ....
             std::string Hodor;
    };

    You guys completely missed the point of my code post. What I meant was, Hodor is a reference to Game of Thrones. Gedit?

    What a bunch of geeks you guys are. Sheesh.
    Code:
    #include <cmath>
    #include <complex>
    bool euler_flip(bool value)

    So, Hodor is a copy of Walder, and both are empty?

If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. "Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.
