    Hello fellow survivors

    Hello fellow survivors,

As the last representatives of the human race and survivors of the end of the world, I suggest we give in the drinking, partying and a bit of a scrap just for old times sake.

Ah yes, another year gone, and another "end of the world party" to attend.

I wonder if the "end of the world" thing will ever go out of style. Knowing the propensity for humans to indulge in the irrational, fantastical mind-sets, as well as mistakenly projecting the pattern-seeking behavior of our brains onto the environment around us, coupled with the meaningless symbolism many people enjoy, I think it's likely this trend will continue unabated.

    Anywho ... cheers!

Ah, them were the days, 6 pints for less than £5.
Struggle to get a single pint for that much in some places now.

It probably will... sometime around the end of the world.

I get maybe two dozen requests for help with some sort of programming or design problem every day. Most have more sense than to send me hundreds of lines of code. If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. "Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.

Not even NASA can predict a gamma ray burst. So it is my hope that the world just ends one day.

Our wonderful world for sure it's not going to end when the guys that interpret the Maya's calendar incorrect say. What we should think about is that humanity pushes this word to annihilation ... You can not probably change the world, but yourself Happy vacation to everyone
Code - functions and small libraries I use

It’s 2014 and I still use printf() for debugging.

Somewhere an "expert" in Mayan culture is drafting an article explaining how everyone else was wrong because the Mayan calendar "doesn't really end until 2013".

Come on people, a new calendar is $11, if all 7 billion of us chip in that's only 1.57e-9 dollars each. A small price to pay to avoid the end of the world.
How I need a drink, alcoholic in nature, after the heavy lectures involving quantum mechanics.

They just had a cyclic calendar. It's been know for, hold on to your hats, a couple centuries.

We need change to our history books... something in the lines of:

Mayans: despite having been an ultra violent civilization with a special interest in ripping the hearts out of their own kind, they had one keen sense of humor. While they couldn't predict the future they knew we would be dumber.

PS: The OP should have been "give in to drinking...". Can't edit that now. But I think you got the gist.

Yes. See, I was once a believer on the "end of the world". I always said the world would end when beer stopped being cheap. But all I did was to add in the list of false predictions

I live in a country that, in the words of one of its past elected political leaders, is "the arse end of the world". So the world has already come to an end.

If I seem grumpy or unhelpful in reply to you, or tell you you need to demonstrate more effort before you can expect help, it is likely you deserve it. Suck it up, Buttercup, and read this, this, and this before posting again.

A politician that doesn't fall to artificial patriotic speech? Can we borrow him from you?

Well, he has retired from the public life, but you could ask him and brace yourself.
