    Dropbox free space (+ 3GB )

    I was given the extra space,so i thought to post it

    If you study in a university
    [
    You verify with your university's e-mail address and not only you get the extra space but you are increasing your school chances to getting more( except if you are from Singapore)
    ]
    else
    [
    forward it to students you know
    ]

    https://www.dropbox.com/spacerace

    Of course i am not advertising dropbox(well this is the cost of the free space,but everything in life is a trade of ).Just posting to let others gain space

    Yeah, I know about this very well even though I no longer qualify because my alma mater has been winning since yesterday, and my juniors have been posting about it on social media

"Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.

    50% of the posts on my Facebook feed has been about Dropbox for the past few days.

    This has got to be the most effective marketing campaign for Dropbox ever.

    Amazing...
    I don't know what I'll use all the space for right now (obviously fitting virtual machines can be tricky)...

    I hardly use more than 5 GB, and that's when I put unnecessary stuff in it that isn't related to studies or work.
    And I pretty much put everything important in there, so I think that's a bit exaggerated.

    What do you want me to tell you?
    Invite a lot of friends to get a lot of space.
    Delete unnecessary files (such as temporary files when compiling), or just don't sync 'em (use selective sync).
    I don't try very hard to stop it from eating up space. I just put whatever work I have in there, along with automatic upload of pictures and videos.
    Speaking of which, if you haven't uploaded some photos or videos, there is bonus space for that.

    I only use it for project collaboration with people that don't know how to use revision control systems (and the project is too short to be worth my time to teach them).

    Otherwise I would just set up a SVN repository.

    Dropbox offers so much more than just "revision control", which it isn't very good at, btw.
    There are several benefits:
    - Online sync between all your computers.
    - Online backup. Your data will be uploaded to the cloud, hence you will not lose it even if your hard drive crashes. They're probably much better at backing up the data they have in their servers then you can do cheaply, too.
    - Safety against accidental modification and deletion. Dropbox keeps track of older revisions and files and even deleted ones, which you can see and restore.

    even deleted ones
    This is one reason I don't use cloud facilities.

    Well, beyond the ones I actually own.
