    Black Friday

    Got a new laptop with 1MB 64bit x2 Pentium, 4GB DDR3, and Intel 4 Series, for $320 yesterday morning. Even though I spent %50 more than I intended, it's not a bad buy if I don't say so myself. It's better on all 3 respects (except _possibly_ the CPU) than any of my other systems, including the desktops.
    So what did you all spend too much money on, this last Friday?

    I didn't want to get trampled or something so I bought nothing. Recently though, I did buy a version of King Arthur's tales.

    I've found in the past few years that I find sales year round on the internet that are far better than the so-called door busters you see in stores. I also live in an area where people get pretty crazy on Black Friday. Take a look at the Walmart and Best Buy in my area mid-day Friday and Saturday and you'd swear there was a riot. Broken merchandise all over the place... not a single unopened box... staff that looks like they've been beaten up. It's just not worth it.

    I saved a ton of money with my super advanced shopping method called Not Buying Anything.

    When I hear people saying stuff like "I hate all these corporations for making me spend all this money, I can't afford it," it makes me want to blast off this planet in a rocket and fly into the sun. Kill me now.
    Code:
    //try
    //{
    	if (a) do { f( b); } while(1);
    	else   do { f(!b); } while(1);
    //}

    I see in the news there were a couple of holdups in parking lots, people getting knocked down, a couple of people got stabbed...

    And for what? The newest made in China contraption?

    Like most smart people, I just stayed home.

    My wife wanted to try the Black Friday experience just once but I think I convinced her it was a bad idea. Besides there are so many places on the internet to get 'stuff' that Black Friday sales do not hold all the grandeur they once did. 'Stuff' is not worth getting trampled or injured over.

    I heard a story about a woman at a walmart that used a can of pepper spray on her fellow shoppers so that she could get first pick of the 360 and wii games. very sad.

    This was the second time I went anywere on Black Friday (and first time standing in line for so long (and by long I mean camping)), and quite possibly the last. The best part was seeing the idiots that think they could skip right in at the front of the line, and the people freaking out about it.

    I heard about that too. Also, rumor is, there's a good chance the confusion that ensued allowed her to walk off with it.

    Gotta be the stupidest idea of this century...
    And the people who go for it aren't much better.

    Don't speak so absolutely about that. My uncle went 2 years ago, and made > $500 on re-selling the better buys on eBay. I'm curious as to how much he'll make this year.

    Yep, but she later turned herself in, I think because she assumed she was on video somewhere and was doomed to be caught, because she then cited the 5th amendment and had nothing more to say:

    I don't wonder if this is someone who had watched too much TV, owned a spray but never used it, and thought it was much less violent than it actually is. I've had a few bear size ones for hiking -- even in windless conditions outdoors, and firing it away from you, within seconds you are aware there is something EXTREMELY unpleasant in the air. The personal protection ones are smaller and fire more of a stream (ie, it is less dispersed), but none the less capable of causing prolonged intense pain.

    It is "just a repellent", in the same sense punching someone very hard in the face might be considered such. Since ignorance cannot be used as a defence, this person definitely deserves multiple assault with a weapon charges.

    I got 'Inception' for $5. '300' was also there for about $1.50 but my dad said that movie sucked. I should have bought it though... I also saw this weird thing that Razor makes but I didn't feel like wasting money on it, I only brought $25. They also had a lot of games on sale too.

    Got Battlefield 3 for $30, then realized my 3 years old video card can't run that, and spent $120 on a new video card.

    yea I just checked Netflix to see if it was instant but it isnt :'( , but I did find Tron: Legacy and I love that movie . Along with Inception, those are two of my most favorite movies.

    Oh yea I also didn't go in the thick of black friday, I went at 7 P.M., it was a barren wasteland.
