    Which concentration to choose in programming

    I am bent on which concentration I want to choose for my college programming/career.
    Systems Security
    Control Systems Programming
    Database Systems
    Distributed Software Architecture
    Artificial intelligence

    Can someone fill me in on the best job market and pay that these offer, as well as fun factor vs stress level. That will help me in choosing a career path, and yes I know that money is not everything and that I should do something that I am interested in.

    I neither know nor care what the pay scales are in these various diciplines... but I can assure you that your last few words hold the key to a successful career...

    I should do something that I am interested in.
    That's the ticket... Keep in mind that writing code is only a small part of what programmers actualy do. Which of these fields interests you *outside" of programming?

    I'd go where the resistance is weakest, honestly. It's just my feeling, but yesterday's job advice may not be so applicable today. A lot of the veterans got in when the industry was booming and opportunity was plentiful..they also came in at a time when they got to see certain hot technologies flowering and learn along the way. Now (at least in America), things are very tight-assed and outsourcing is rampant. What's fun may also be what is flooded. It's something to consider.

    I do agree it's a tough market.

    But tough market or not, you won't last long in any job where you don't have motivation and interest...

    It's a serious mistake to think that bosses don't notice bored workers.

    I find myself happiest when I'm at a concentration of 0.67 moles per liter, but that's a personal question
    Code:
    //try
    //{
    	if (a) do { f( b); } while(1);
    	else   do { f(!b); } while(1);
    //}

    Trust me, there is no shortage of programmers...
    You will find yourself competing with multiple other candidates for almost every job you apply for.
