Well, I'm not from India... but happy Independence day to you!
as a citizen of another formerly british-controlled country, I wish you a very happy Independence Day
USA
it's been 235 years, and with any luck, it'll be another 235 years.
Until finally, in AD 2246, the United States will be re-absorbed by the British Empire -- if everything goes according to plan.
India's "independent" status is different from that of the US since it was granted, and Elizabeth II is still the Queen there, as she is in all Commonwealth nations. I don't know if that's as rich a source of humour there as it is here in Canada. I love the USA but it's a shame they don't have a royal family. You don't know what you are missing. Honestly.

Actually we have a congress of donkeys and elephants but I would not be opposed to switching that to a universal baboon symbol since it so aptly applies to both. Remember, Al Gore invented those tubes. It's not a shame, we have our own congress of baboons. Old baboons, too. Remember, the internet is a series of tubes.
