To further this random sidetrack, I would like to point out that certain things people think of as being private aren't really. As quzah pointed out about the websites that you chose to visit could log ip addresses, when talking on the phone your right to privacy only exists from an external organization to the phone company. Within the US the phone lines are the legal property of the phone company, and as such, the phone company is allowed to place a tap on a phone line whenever it wants to ensure proper enforcement of terms of use. Note: It is a totally different matter if, say the government wants to do this.
Thus I wouldn't be to surprised if some interpretation like this applied to visiting websites. Since you chose, note keyword chose, to use their content they may have the right to log information which could be required to enforce terms of use for the website.
