    Witcher 2

    Has anyone played this yet?

Was looking forward to this game but it has been ruined by a horrible interface and clunky combat. This game has one of the most amateurish skeletal animation systems I've ever seen released in a AAA title. Two words: linear interpolation and animation keyframe blending.

You literally cannot do any new action until the previous animation has stopped playing in its entirety. This means you cannot open doors if you run up to them and your run animation has not completely stopped. In combat you cannot set a trap and then run forward and swing your sword until the complete animation for crouching, setting a trap, standing up, and moving to idle is completed. This means you get sliced into a billion pieces by all your enemies while your current animation track completes. Absolutely ridiculous and should have never left the labs like this.

The interface also is terrible. I know why it is terrible both in performance and appearance but I cannot really get into that on a public forum. Needless to say I wish they would go back to their other interface. Great story, amazing graphics, good voiceovers, all marred by a terrible interface and clunky combat. Truly a labor of love marred by horrible execution in the interface department. How this game received such high praises is so beyond me. What games are these reviewers playing? Is it even the same game that we are purchasing?

EDIT: I altered the tone of the thread a bit.

Just play some dwarf fortress and forget these other "unworthy games".

Yikes. I thought we had gone way beyond that.

Hard to love a game if you can't play it.

    *shrug*

Maybe they just have a high tolerance for bad menu design. Maybe they play "Dwarf Fortress" without having a therapist handy.

No joke! That is the handiest utility ever made.

We should get the cprogramming version of boatmurdered started. I have a knack for attracting catastrophes.

The interface is spoiling this game for me as well. What were they thinking?

I hate how you can not jump (I have to run all the way to the bottom of the stairs, I cant jump off even the last step?).

I rage quit yesterday after a patch reset my keybindings, to change a key binding or graphics setting you have to quit the game (use the launcher and restart the game).

    Just... wow!

Gaming review websites really became as useless as affiliated political analysts.

I beat the game but likely will not play it again. There are alternate endings but I'm not sure I can go back to my player being a mere kitty cat when he starts out and yet he is supposed to be an expert with a sword. In the game he looks more like a bumbling idiot with a blade than an elite swordsman.

I think this is b/c it is also on the console althought I cannot see how any console could run this at max settings. The laucher app is only on the PC so I think their thinking was to create the launcher to alter settings for the PC and that way they would not have to alter any in-game menus across versions. But...yeah it is annoying.
