I dunno I rather like it...

But there are a couple of spots where the colours are too close to read easily.

The new look is a result of upgrading to vBulletin 4. It's a word in progress (see Welcome to vBulletin 4 - please post bugs here!). I definitely want to fix bugs and sort through issues although I suspect that there will be some things that are tough to change--for example, the new icons are probably here to stay.

And all this just to make life easier to smartphone users... irritating bunch!
Anyways, I guess I'll eventually get used to this new look. Not that I have an option. And if I did, you wouldn't want to know what that is.

It looks nice. I think it will be really good once you get everything tweaked to perfection.

Thanks for the upgrade and for keeping the forum up to date and running smoothly. The new look is something I will have to get used to but it does look less cluttered. Stickies do not stand out all that well but overall I like the new look.

There are definitely some display problems on my screen... and it's kind of overwhelmingly white to me. I know it's the same theme colors... it just feels brighter than typical. I do like the new icons, though... I have no issue with the staying personally.

I'm going to check out what new features v4.0 offers from their website... maybe there's some nifty stuff to take advantage of.

On a positive note, it renders in IE9 mode, which is leaps and bounds from the previous version.

Different, but the colored icons in the reply window really "pop" out, which is good. I probably need to dim my brightness on the monitor.

Epy, I don't believe they have much of a choice with updating the forum, from time to time. If you have something specific you'd like to see or not see, post up your concern.

Hmm... No forum would ever make me change my monitor settings. Heck, nothing would for that matter. Once it's set, it's set for good. Anyways, I don't think I would need to do something so radical. But definitely I'd appreciate a slightly darker theme. I think the big culprits are the icons, which are too bright. I like the icons, not their brightness.

Just by darkening a bit all icons on the front and forum pages I think the website would look better. Probably introduce just a tad (almost imperceptible) bit of grey into the white background.

I could debate that for hours. Where exactly is there the imperative to support the latest technologies, or if that can actually be a false doctrine. I'm proponent of the last for many things (including this forum). But two things will remain true, despite my surprise and general dislike for this change:

- Self-entitlement is sometimes hard to avoid. But Webmaster is not my biatch. This is his, not mine.
- There were more palpable limitations to the old version that don't include some generic and ecumenical approach to technological trends of debatable value; The site had trouble rendering in the newest browsers (particularly that usually adopted by corporations), and the version was indeed old. Some 6 years old, eventually making it more problematic any technical assistance by Jelsoft.

I looked into the smilies issue--vBulletin 4 came with new smilies, but I had to manually change the smilies code to use them, which I just did

Hope you like them. There's one smilie, , that is still old-school because there isn't a replacement for it and I don't want to break old posts.

Noticed that forum looked different..was surprised but like the modern look...but I wonder if they've fixed the file upload..
I can never tell if an attachment has been uploaded!

It would be useful, after all this is done and over with, if you made a summary post of your thoughts and experiences with vBulletin 4. I won't deny it's for selfish reasons, but I'm confident others would find it useful too.
