Useful for the programming forums as it would help people to reinforce correct answers. However, rather than just a "like", I'd like to see a "like/dislike" or a "thumbs up/down" system that allows us to thumb down bad answers to programming questions.

I can, however, see any system of this type including what is currently in place causing issues in the heated debates that tend to go on in General Discussion. Perhaps you can find a way to limit the Like/Dislike to the programming forums only.

Yeah well let's not make that policy.... I popped up my browser here, refreshed the page and suddenly I had 7 notifications to deal with....

Is it possible to stop the "Like" thingy from posting notifications in my account?

Well done, now everyone can see what a total fvckup you are... You're name is all over the like bombs you dumped on me for everyone to read.

Why oh why is it that whenever people try to do something nice there's always someone like you that just HAS to wreck it for everyone else???

I think ಠ_ಠ is demonstrating why this toy should ONLY apply to GD posts.

To followup on Tater's post, I'm thinking of replacing the font in which ಠ_ಠ's custom title is displayed in...

Also, mods should have the power to unlike thinks on behalf of other users, where they're being complete dicks about it.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

I think it's better to have moderators look after this. They look after people who break the rules of board, so why not make "do not abuse the like system" one of the rules?
There is no reason why all should suffer because one abuses it.

Gee that lasted all of 24 hours before some dufus came along and totally destroyed it... and to make it worse I've got the idiot gloating about it in PMs.

Way too typical of today's world... Idiocy seems to be the new Cool.

Yes the mods should rule on this person's behaviour...

But it would also be nice if I had some way of getting the 25 hits butt-boy caused off my list...
(like maybe a "clear list" function....)

Naaaa... he's not trying to show us anything. He's just being a destructive little dork. If the PMs he sent are any indication, he actually thinks all this is funny.

just pointing out all the flaws before someone malicious comes along. I would recommend limiting the number of likes a user can give over a certain period of time

Fantastic idea - I've now limited your ability to like any more posts.
    See you in a month.

The first section is BS and we all know it.
The second part in little tiny text at the bottom tells the whole story.

So, tell me, how's it feel to ruin a new idea so quickly that nobody even got the chance to try it out? Are you proud of yourself? Does it make you feel all big and important?

When you take a look at the like page, all the notifications of new likes go away, I believe.
