what do you see in the C song?

By C song I refer to the "Let it be" melody set to words which come from a very devoted C programmer.

There's a few renditions viewable on youtube. The gist or bones of it are that after all attempts in other languages have been made and have failed that C wil come and rescue you.

A first I thought it was a laugh. Something meant to provoke java programmers or others.

However as time as gone on, I've wondered .. is there any truth to it? I mean the wording is wrong, you don't "write" or "type" in C, you do so in vi or emacs. It would make more sense for vi users to use the song (vi has only has one syllable, actually rhymes with C).

But I haven't seen a vi song. So this C song .. it's a bunch of lies, sure, but why isn't there a backlash?

I've programmed in C for many years. Never used anything except the IDE provided editor (which was never Vi or Emacs), or a plain text editor like gedit or notepad.

For near assembly run time speed and purely procedural programming, you can't beat C. For rescuing your program as the deadline approaches - well, it does make a great lyrical adaption of "Let It Be", doesn't it?
