    Nerds and needles

Am I the only nerd here that hates needles? Flu shots, dental work, bloodwork,...all of em make me nervous every time.

After the fact I'm always like...that wasn't so bad but leading up to it is terrible.

I can stare down evil twisted hidden bugs that take you through a hexadecimal nightmare and never fear once....but when it comes to something simple like needles I'm a big chicken.

    Talking

I've always said, the one thing I won't do is intravenous drugs.

Intra-muscular maybe, but not straight into the blood stream. No way.

Hehe. Yeah, I'd rather be tortured then be stuck with a needle. Oh, wait - same thing.

I was given so many injections during my life, I really don't care much about other people stabbing me.

I don't like bugs too much, and I don't like to watch needles on TV or in movies, but I've never really had a problem with them going in me. Don't know why.

That reminds me... time to donate blood again.

Odd thing is, having spent a total of at least one year of my youth in the hospital (twice for mosquito-bourne illnesses, and once for a serious accident), I never did get used to it (even after being stuck numerous times). You'd think that after a while I'd have gotten used to it!

Not surprising, considering these economic times.

I don't mind shots and taking blood. But I can't stand needles in my mouth. No sir!

But it's ok. I don't go to a dentist for the past 25 years, neither I plan to go to one for the next 25. At least.
Threaten me with a dentist and I'll betray my country.

Unfortunately they don't pay, although I do usually get a snack and some juice.

If they did pay I'd certainly be there every 8 weeks instead of being lazy and making excuses.

I've had so many needles in my life that they don't bother me at all anymore. Dental needles do suck though, I really hope I never need anymore of those .

I'm a geek not a nerd, but I hate needles all the same.

    Just ask for gas

Needles aren't too bad, although I'm really scared of having a spinal tap -- if I ever need one.

If it's going to cure me of something, then stick in a couple. I haven't had many, but they're not a fuss to me.

I thought intra-muscular hurts a lot more than intravenous.

I just hate needles. I'm pretty sure I'd hate needles no matter what.

@Mario: you know, my mom can't stand going to the dentist for a cleaning either. When she does go, she requests nitrous oxide. I've never understood that as the process is almost sensation free. I've had fillings done without novicain, too, opting for the nitrous. But I guess pain and fear at the dentist is something I will never have to deal with, along with a lucky few.

Diabetic... blood glucose testing 6 times per day... insulin shots 4 times per day... each of those involves a needle or otherwise sharp piece of metal jabbing into my skin.
