Thread: Microsoft Math question

... I never mentioned tablet other than MS Math could recognize hand-writing ... Anyways, the thing is, a Texas Instrument TI-89 which the school demands of us, that or a laptop, and since I've gotten a laptop already I'm all set, also MS Math was made to be educational for the student AND is made for mature people who want to learn, so you learn off it since it has a huge LOAD of capabilities, like 3D math and showing it, and I'm talking about MS Math 3.0 ... Anyways, MS Math extends to Math A as we call it, which is the highest type you can go to class for ... Well, that's what the people say...
I'm loving this program only problem is that silly thing about types AND getting it to Word (having some issues) since I'll have to do some math on paper for the teacher too, or well it's all electronical, but this school doesn't even practise brain-math or whatever, they have decided that this you have had enough time to learn for the 9 to 10 years you've been in school, now it's only writing reports on how you did the math and how it works and stuff ...

It's not about how fast you can do it, it's how well you can explain it. That's the teachers motto, I think...

o.O All my homework is stored on a portable hard drive that has 4GB ...
Also, what happened to personal preference? I love going high tech on this...

Anyways, I'm at a school that is for 3 years then you go university, we don't use the same system as in the US, also we use the TI-89 as an exclusive to this school all other 'collages' don't allow it since it's too good, this collage teaches some C math in the start, then goes to B for one year or more then at the end of 2nd year you go A and then on the third year you finish A ... We also learn C++ programming on second year, and are learning stuff like Microsoft Office (the first month hopefully) then to Adobe Photoshop and Flash, oh and we learnt the basics of computer knowledge like Binary and Hex and then html, that we'll be learning too ... I love this collage xP Not many girls, but still awesome

well, from what I've seen, as in from the Americans I know, you people don't learn anything we don't with the extra two years of high school, no offence to anyone, just sounds like our system is better ... Anyways, I can't judge by the few Americans I know xP

I learned almost all of first year university calculus when I was in grade 10 (that's when I was your age) . That is optional, though.

I also learned first year chemistry (thermodynamics, phase equilibrium, solutions equilibrium, some organic stuff, electrochem).

There are also many languages to choose from (besides English), and many people take 2 or more. I only took one, because it's not my thing.

The American system is very liberal. You can pretty much choose to learn as much or as little as you want.

But hey, my university's student population is almost as big as your Faroe Islands population .

BTW, we don't get 2 years more than you. You guys have a 10-years primary school. Ours is only 7 (or 6).

No, you're right. I went to school in Canada. I took French from grade 1-9, as mandatory. That's eight years. Up until the last two, I had an A or a B usually.

The last one, I finally decided I was sick of French, since neither I nor anyone else I knew could speak it at all even tho we had all been taking the class most of our lives. So my last year I took the general level, and I knew I was in the right place when on the first day the teacher went up and down the aisles asking everyone to count to 20. No one in a class of 25 got past 16 -- after almost a decade in the Canadian educational system. The people I knew who actually completed French at the advanced level in high school (13 years!) cannot speak or understand French effectively either and most of them will admit it. Generally, Canadian students who learn French learn it for real in university (which they must complete the 13 years first) -- then they become French teachers in the public grade school system! Ha ha ha.

Meanwhile, my Danish cousins could all speak conversational English to me from the age of 7 or 8, and there are no more English speakers in their communities than there were French ones in mine. They learned it exclusively at school -- the difference being they obviously learned something where as we did not.

Just as a point of reference, I finished my BA with a 3.5 (B+) average at SFU, which at that time was ranked the number one school in the country. University is great. Public school is an absolute travesty. I could speak better Spanish than I could French after one four month semester at SFU.

well, for us year 10 is optional too and I took it, we start C math there but you can go to collage after 9th grade, if you're brave or stupid most who leave out of 9th are said to fail collage over here... Anyways, over here we with the languages, we start with Faroese the first year, then Danish the third year, then English the 5th year, then optionally German the 8th year, then in other collages than mine you have to choose one new language to learn, while my collage doesn't have Danish (Woohoo!) and you don't have to learn a new language, oh and I had German in 8th grade 'cause my parents made me, then in 9th grade I just forced me out of it 'cause it literally was so ........ed up and sucked ass! D: sorry, I'm not against Germans but the language just was too boring to think about

wait what? This is my 11th year in school and I'm in collage ... we go to something kinda like high school at 7th grade then you can be there for 3 or 2 years ... Omg I'm lost now xP

It is not such a bad place to get stranded tho! I used to ride my MTB up that hill everyday, 365m above the ocean at the foot. Which meant I also got to ride it down the hill, thru the woods. My roommates used to joke "I know MK went to class today because of all the open cuts". It was a very fairy tale idyllic place IMO. I notice they used the campus a lot for the Caprica settings in Battlestar Galactica.
