Just to set the record straight, he was most likely killed by his manager. His girlfriend may have been involved, as well, as there were many inconsistencies in her version of events. First of all, when the ambulance arrived, she was nowhere to be found (the apartment was empty, with the door wide open), and Hendrix had been dead for several hours (whereas she had claimed he was still alive at that point). She never spoke to the EMT's nor with anyone at the hospital, as she had originally claimed, either. Very suspicious.

Hendrix is (wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy) overrated.
Debatable. His most "popular" music was very cliched, IMO, but if you look a little closer you might find a real composer there. I always thought the avant-garde type stuff he did in informal jams around 1966 was some of his best (eg: Giraffe, Spiked With Heady Dreams, etc), but even some of his more well known songs (eg: Woodstock: Villa Nova Junction) were nothing short of genius. And just to be clear, I don't listen to his records much, either, but I can certainly appreciate his work based on it's artistic merits (on a side note, he was a really talented painter, as well).
