Currently in 48hr game programming competition

I'm currently participating in the LudumDare 48 hour game programming competition (create everything from scratch in 48 horus).

Right now its playable (still needs some polish), but I'm wondering if I can have some comments/criticism as to whether or not its fun, confusing, etc.

The Plot: "A launch signal is getting sent to a USSR ICBM, can you stop it?"
Fly around, and blow up the batteries to disrupt things so that the electrons cannot start the launch sequence.

    Edit:
Batteries come back eventually (after you've killed them).
If you kill a battery, any electron that was between it and another battery dies.

I don't know how to restart it after I fail
The gradients of the little bars that the electrons travel on kinda annoys me
The color scheme of the score indicator does too
Can you somehow allow me to say, configure the controls? I'm not good at doing all that stuff with the mouse
Really, it's just pretty hard too, and I can't exactly tell when I can shoot or not
Do the shots go slower when I slow myself down?
And those electrons are pretty hard to 'kill'. I can like follow those things and shoot at em and they just won't die sometimes

These are some raw first impressions I got., but really, it looks real cool

Doesn't have a ton of improvements (sorry, low on time), but now it has an intro, and you can actually kill electrons (before you couldn't shoot electrons, only kill them by destroying their pathway).
