    Smile looking for people...

i know, you saw the subject to this post and you thought "oh god, here it comes again". you don't have to worry. i'm not begging anyone to write anything for me. i'm currently writing what is hopefully the base for a first person (shooter?) game i'm developing. i haven't decided whether it will include a story, just be multiplayer, or what. the "engine" currently renders a room and hallway a la Perfect Dark on N64. I'm working on weapons right now ( the physics as well as the look ). Some screenshots can be found here:

    http://www.angelfire.com/games4/boto0o/shot1.html
    http://www.angelfire.com/games4/boto0o/shot2.html
    http://www.angelfire.com/games4/boto0o/shot3.html

note: the color (sky, etc) isn't too good in the first two screens...i've enlarged the third image for a real view of the engine.

so, now to the "help wanted" part...i'm not asking for help, just asking if anyone would be interested in working WITH me ( not FOR me ) on this project. the game can go in any direction we choose, as well as the areas, weapons, characters, etc. i guess you could call me a "newbie" at direct3d - i seem to be moving along fine for now, though. the engine ( game ) progresses as i progress. if you're still interested, please leave a reply.

ps although i'm not asking for help, i would preferably work with people who know at least as much as i know. i want this to be a learning experience.

I'm also doing an FPS, but I'm using an already created engine. Good luck with your project. Maybe we can trade info sometime.

I might be able to help you out with a UI, HUD and such.
Aswell as a webpage, I've been designing for quite some time.

    wish i could....

i would help you, but im a newbie to c++ programming and can only do dos type programs at the moment, which wouldn't help much with the fps. Keep posting the screens those are pretty good looking.

I'm going to be doing DOS for a while yet. I may make a ray-tracing engine after the RPG I'm working on ATM.

Sorry to double-post, but your engine looks good. I would like to see some more screenshots once you get textures on the walls.

Are you using DX8 or DX8.1?
Are you using C/C++/ or something else?

    Cheers,

Actually, I was using Direct3D 8, but now the project has sort of changed gears. I'm (with 2 other programmers) developing a Direct3D engine as one project:

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/femkii/

and I haven't decided whether I'll continue the game with our engine or use a pre-existing one. (Possibly one of the Quake Engines).
