Now I need this d3dx9_27.dll in order to run my games. It isn't even included in the sdk or in direct x reditrubution as far as I know.
Is there away around this besides not using d3dx functions. Or do I just really need this file?

It should be included in the SDK. It came with mine. It was automatically installed in /WINDOWS/System32
hmm wierd, and i also tried looking it up again, this time with results.
They changed the names of the d3dx dlls in the August releases so they made everyone have to update those dlls.
Well it sounds like you gotta include it, or make the users download it.
I won't update my SDK till DirectX 10 comes out. Too much hassle with new stuff that really doesn't do much of anything different.
so, what your saying is if I revert back to an older sdk I won't have this problem?
I think I found the most common version. d3dx9_25 seems to be the most common one people have. I asked 2 of my friends so far and I have it as well.
That is the April release.
