    Bot

My first post. I would like to write a poker bot program, that is - a program that will interact with an online poker site and react with their interface. This is at least a 2 year project mainly due to my lack of technical knowledge - but I'm willing to put in the hours to learn whatever is necessary.
I know C++ fairly well, but that's about it.
No windows programming experience. After searching the web, my main problem is that I still don't know where to begin. For example, I want to know how to "listen" and interpert the data at various ports. Where do I start? Is this window's programming, socket programming (whatever that is), or other? Thanks for any help.

These bots are against the rules of practically every online poker site - and they are therefore against the rules of this forum. Incidentally, you posted this in the wrong section anyway.
