    Cool 3d game modellers

    Hi,

This is a general question. I was wondering what are good 3D modellers for small 3D games...i find 3Ds max to be too much. i'm looking for something simpler to use. I'm wondering what many of you use when you have models you want to import or for level design (if you import those too). let me know please.

    thanx in advance,
    Boomba

Hmm....Most of those I never heard of, and Milkshape is just a waste of time. I would suggest using the XSI Mod Tool by SoftImage. Or Blender 3D, but I don't think its too good for games. I mean if you want to do 3D games you are going should think about getting 3DS Max. If you are planning on using XSI for stuff with Half life 2, then you will need the plugin. I mean, plan to spend some money for some quality stuff.

the most simple 3d modeler you're going to find is the x file viewer that comes with the Direct3D sdk. You can make primitive shapes and move them about. Anything else is going to be complicated, since 3d modeling is a very difficult and complicated task. I've always been a fan of Maya, since I'm not very artistically talented, and Maya has several fun tools that do stuff for me.

You should probably just bite the bullet and learn 3ds max. It's really not all that difficult, plus it's the industry standard.(That and maya.)

Here is a list of some good tutorials to get you started.

The easiest 3D app to learn that is still capable of very serious modeling is wings3D www.wings3d.com which is completely free. The reason its so good is that it doesnt have any confusing toobars, infact it doesnt have any toolbars at all. You access the menu by selecting something and right clicking, and only the tools that you need will appear in that menu in relation to what you have selected and what mode youre in (face, edge or vertex). Wings3D is the app I wish I had when I was learning 3D as it would have cut out a lot of needless confusion.

Are you talking about the full version of 3ds MAX, or Gmax? Gmax was designed with games in mind, and it's free.
    Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.
