I'm really glad I use Dev-C++ now. That and I saved like 100 dollars. Although Dev-C++ 5 sort of sucks. 4's cool though.
Although I wish they would somehow prevent you from putting headers in the project because doing so seems to break the project -_-
Why does 5 suck? I like it better.
Whenever I use 5 it either wigs out or explodes whenever I don't use the built in autotab stuff.
You could try the Mepis bootable CD-ROM. It works really well.I've been trying to used linux but i can't get it to work. After downloading the image files, and burning them to disks, and using rawrite to write the bootdisk image, I still can't make it work.
I dont know any sourcecontrol programs, and i dont have an external server to send my stuff to. I just rar everything, and give it a number. Whenever i made some progress i email a rar to myself. This is easy, free and is pretty safe. For small projects (mine is about 10.000 lines) this is perfect IMO.
I would recommend this above other (more or less) complicated methods.

I lost a 250-line program, and a 150-line one, when, first, the floppy failed, and the second, I ended up typing the wrong pathname, and Dev-C++ (Deo, try this!) didn't give me an error.
