What should the first game that I make be? >:-o
I've learnt quite a lot of the basics of C++, and now I would like to give myself a project to do rather than making useless bits of code testing the stuff that I've learnt. (Well, I made a program to do me homework for me but I didn't see that as much of a project.) I've noticed that a lot of beginners are making text-based RPGs. Should I make one? RPGs are me favourite type of game and this should be a start. :P What do you think I should start off with? Thanks.

Text RPGs are the simplest game to make, and being a beginner that's a plus. So if you also enjoy them, just do that.

Do a search on the forums. There's been tonnes of people posting code for them recently.
Yeah, look at the forums, check www.gametutorials.com, and make sure you know what your game will be about. I don't think all text rpgs are easy, especially if you include lots of detail, but they are considered easier because no graphic-detail is involved.

Thanks. In a week or so I'll make this because I'll have a book on C++ for easy reference by then. I've decided I'll try and get a bit more familiar with all the different parts of C++ because I'm worried this RPG won't turn out right, and that'll spoil my self-asteem and make me lose my enthusiasm with programming.
