    SkyRoads 2004

This is a game I've been working on for the last weeks. It's based on the old DOS game skyroads. It uses DirectX9 (required). Source code is also included, though it's not fully compilable (uses some external libraries, safely located on my HD).

Do not try to alt-tab, you won't be able to get back. I've had a problem with this, which can be seen in this and this thread.

The file is 1.5Mb so I could not upload it here. Get it here instead.

    Have fun!

i remember playing the demo of skyroads when i was a little kid, sure it was easier though.

How long did it take to make it? its pretty impressive!

oh and a couple of things, sometimes its hard to select map because its so sensitive you skip down a few maps when you press the arrow key. Also i think you should maybe give maps dificulty ratings (somthing like easy, medium, hard or insaine) and then have some option to change the dificulty, and when you do, it just shows you the maps with that dificulty.

it is really good though! You going to sell it?

A few weeks, a month perhaps. I did use some old code, like parts of the graphics engine.

Yeah, a delay was never implemented. I doubt I'll add it at this point though.

I'm a fan of free software, but even if I considered selling it I couldn't since I've been using copyrighted stuff, like Halflife textures.

    Glad you liked it.

Overall I would say it is a very good game. However, I cannot seem to get past anything but the first few blocks in any level, so I didn't really enjoy playing it that much.

I remember skyroads. I played it back when I had Windows 3.1. I got it on some 1001+ shareware games CD's.

Looks really good, but I find it too hard at the beginning.

Here's a screenshot. I really like the LEGO environment.

What error message? Do you have DirectX 9?

Hm, yeah. Perhaps it's a bit too hard...

well, it's still a really good game though. If you tweaked some very minor things so that uncoordinated slime such as drax and myself could play, then it'd be extremely addicting. You've already got so much functionality there (I especially liked the little build in map editor).

    Whoa nice!
Its a bit on the difficult side, prehaps have 'lower' gravity or something.. 'cos the jumps do seem a little short which makes it rather too hard.. well too hard for me at least

It probably would be best to have custom difficulty settings available similiar to that of Battlefield 1942, and have gravity as one of the settings.

It doesn't work on my computer either, it can't create the Direct3D device, and I do have Direct X 9 but I also have integrated graphics (I dont play many games on PC). The screen shot looks awsome though.
